Animated Vs. Filmed

Dunno if this should go in this forum or the film production one but here tis anyway!

I think that the animated genre has been really overlooked in recent years, I think the Harry Potter films for example, should've been animated, it would have given far more freedom as concerns special effects and I don't like whats his face that plays harry at all, I think he sucks to be blunt. Daniel Radcliffe, thats his name.

Anyway, I was just wondering what everyone else's opinion was on this. Should more films be animated or do you prefer the special effects of these big budget things?

doesnt it take much longer to make a quality animated film?

I know Pixar/disney deliver one every year, but they start the production of them years in advance.

So while Wall-E hit this year, it started production back around 2004-2005 right?
