    Hi,

It looks like a clever bit of kit.

I monitor my solar instalation, but used the following ket:
    http://www.quasarelectronics.com/3145.htm

it can be bought in kit form or assembled. It is not quitr as simple as the one you propose as it requires a serial interface, but it will support up to 4 sensors so you can measure panel temp and tank temp.

It also comes with a free piece of software for monitoring the sensors and graphing the output. something you would have to do yourself with the IP one.

One last point - the sensor you linked to has a PT-100 temp sensor on it, that means that it will need a dedicated sensor pocket, the one I use uses tiny sensors that can be put into the existing pockets behind the PT-100 that are used for the control system.

    Regards

That looks the business, perfect for adding to my weather website.

    Hi All,

How could you fit this to a highly insulated water tank?

Also where would you fit it so as to measure the panel temp?

Any information about fitting is welcome.

    Talk later,
    Cormac

Connect the sensors to pipes leading to/from the tank as close to the tank itself as possible, the flange where the pipe enters the tank is often exposed.

Got mine the other day, connected the sensors, the monioring system is currently under test. Will try and connect the probes to the system sometime next week.

Just an update to this, I have had the system running now for almost a year and it worked well until one of the sensors (top of tank) got damaged - am now waiting for a replacement to come in the post.

Intersting stuff, you are getting pretty similar results to me.

the output from my solar system can be seen here:

In the interest of full disclosure, The data on the above website comes from my house, but I have no association with the company.

What software are you using there, mine is a simple batch file and the graphing is done using an open source application called FusionChartsFree.

Still a bit buggy (dodgy sensor not helping) but mostly reliable, just needs to be restarted from time to time.

I'm using a custom VB app to read in the data to text files, then writing it every 30 minutes directly to a mySQL database on the web server.

the graphing is done using jpgraph for php.

It's pretty buggy as well, I need to split the data capture and database population to try to ensure i have less gaps in the data.
