Buying a wardrobe from Argos in Dublin. it is 440euro here.
i thought id have a look to see how much it costs in Northern Ireland with the exchange rate being good, it is 275pounds that converters to just under 300euro.

that is a massive 140 euro differnce..

    Argus Dublin:

    Argus Belfast:

The problem is that you cannot collect this item from Argos it needs to be home delivery, does anyone know a way around this, it is a massive savings, i have more stuff i want to get aswell, but again they are all home delivery.. do you think they delivery down here??:pac:

The PS3 8GB with accessory pack and free Little Big Planet game is £287 as outlined on the PS3 and 360 thread, down here Argos is selling 80GB PS3 with accessory pack and any game for €479 or close to that price. Seriously, how patriotic would you have to be to spend an extra €150 odd in the same UK retailer just because it's south of the border?

Not Argos but have you had a look at Ikea? They have a wide selection of wardrobes not dissimilar to those in Argos and probably cheaper and you can design your own to suit your needs. They are very competitively priced and you can usually pick them up instore on the day.

You can download the planner online as well.

    go argos in newry

ask for item to be delivered to store they will charge you £10 for this

they will phone you to let you know item can be picked up

i have done this myself a few times

while were on the topic what argos delivery charges here compared to the north
£4.50 flat fee as against 30 or 40 euros here

another option is to contact one of those companies that deliver and assemble the furniture for you

their is a company in the north who do all ikea stuff and mamas and papas

talking about mamas and papas check out their sterling prices vis a via euro
    shocking....

    i could go on

I know its pathetic, I noticed this yesturday, I was searching for external hardrives and found a massive difference between the Derry Argos and the Letterkenny one
One hardrive called seagate is £146 in argos derry and is 230 euro in letterkenny .

    Rip off Irish argos http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/6756994/Trail/searchtext>EXTERNAL+HARDRIVE.htm

    Cheap Argos in the North

One word of caution about argos, check them against other retailers as some of their prices are rubbish (regardless of whether it's in sterling or euro). Some things they are cheap others they can be expensive (I suppose that is the same for all retailers really).

I take it you can't avoid the initial trip to newry by ordering over the phone directly with the newry branch?

I agree 100%, there was a time when Argos were very competitive but I've found this no longer the case. Elara are cheaper on Sony digital cameras.
Even Currys is cheaper on certain hi-fi gear.
