Protests over Gaza deaths at 5PM Today (Monday) outside Israeli Embassy..

THE brutal, criminal attack by the Israelis on the desperate people of Gaza has its roots in the total Israeli blockade of Gaza, denying the people basic needs such as food, fuel and medicine. The Israelis continue to attack this highly populated nation indiscriminately just like shooting fish in a barrel.

A demonstration outside the Israeli embassy in Dublin is planned for 5pm today held by the Irish Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

Is there going to be a similar protest against Hamas/Palestinians for their indiscriminate use of missiles against the Israeli people?

We'd need there to be a palastinian embassy first

Fixed that for ya since about 95% of their rockets land in unpopulated fields.

    So why bother firing them?

The sense of doing something. Oppression is a terrible thing. It causes you to do terrible and often disparate things.

It's amazing how people ignore that.

But, I still support the Palistinians tbh.

Hamas knew exactly what they were doing when they refused to enter into another ceasefire and recommenced firing rockets into Israeli territory. One thing that is very apparant over the past 40 years is if you screw with Israel they will retaliate with force. I don't agree with civilians being targetted but then Hamas have been targetting civilians in their rocket attacks.

Im a bit confused and yes I know very little about this. So .... Hamas start firing hundreds of rockets into Israeli territory with 5% killing people and 95%damaging innocent fields. Israel retaliates by attacking tunnels which are used for importing arms and supporting. So we protest at the Israeli embassy?

I'm sure those in the Israeli embassy will give a fúck that a bunch of Irish tossers have decided to congregate outside their front door.

It's not that it's ignored. It's when the other side have a 95% hit record that it becomes a little less significant in comparison with the death and destruction that the IDF cause.

People arguing can go back and forth on that issue all year long and it will never resolve anything. It's gonna be an opinion or mindset. And it's the same thing with the Israeli's, heavy handed beyond necessary means every time a palestinian rocket is fired into Israel, which is not just for the craic by the way. It's usually in response to something that does not make it onto television or papers over here. If that is going to be the response every time that happens, the situation will never end. Unless they continue to bomb from the air with no regard to innocent civilians and at some stage in the future every last Palestinian has been killed or fled to other countries. Well the fleeing part would only happen if they were allowed leave the imprisoned cities they live in.

It's why people buy Special K (the cereal, that is).

however, back to the debate at had, the Israelis are generally seen to be disproportionate in their response. The casualty figures seemingly back this up.

Can you provide any evidence for this whatsoever? How do you know that the likes of Hamas or Hezbollah aren't just antagonising the Israelis unprovoked?

I think the contrast between this conflict and the Russia-Georgia situation is quite interesting. In both cases the smaller state was seen as the aggressor, but while Russia received widespread condemnation for disproportionate use of force, here the jury seems to be siding with Israel. Not identical situations by any stretch of the imagination of course, but there are definately similarities.

I'm sure when the terrorists stop attacking Israeli targets and people FIRST, the Israelies will stop firing back.

I've never really understood this proportionate response argument. If I'm in a nightclub and I walk over to a guy twice my size and start poking him in the eyes and the turns around and hospitalises me... you know what? I asked for and deserve it!

I'm still interested in seeing a little proof of whether Hamas were provoked into firing 450 rockets into Israel. I was under the impression that they were doing it after Israeli troops had actually pulled out of The Strip, just to add insult to injury.

Big difference Georgia is a reasonably sized country with the supposed support of the worlds superpower behind it and thought they would have a chance to flex their muscles but failed miserably.

Here another reasonably sized country with the absolute support of the worlds main superpower behind it are accelerating their program of ethnic cleansing.

Still the similarity is that a lot of people will agree that the side with the backing of the worlds main superpower are in the right.

So are we just protesting because Isreal are killing more pepole than the Palestinians?

If they promise to kill a few less is that ok?

Thats nice and all, but remember that if they had the arms, 95% of Palistinians believe that all non-Muslims should be anilhated as infidels, and that western countries would be the first port of call for said arms.

You can support them all you like, but most of them believe we deserve death.
