I sold a new nokia bl6f battery on ebay

buyer buys it and its delivered

he says its faulty and wants a refund or immediate repllacement

I agree and tell him to send it back

he says hes sending it back but wants another type of battery bl5f or full refund (including postage) as he actually ordered the wrong battery

hes threating negative feedback etc if he doesnt get his way

    What should i do?

he obviously ordered the wrong item without checking and he wants me to bear all related costs for his mistake

Report his behavior to eBay. If he leaves unfair negative feedback, you may be able to get it removed later, though this is very hard to get done.

Has he started a Paypal dispute or anything?

I would insist on waiting for the battery to be returned before doing anything for him. What returns policy did you state in your auction? Since he bought the wrong battery type, you could charge him a fee for the return (10% or something), and refund the remainder. This is usual in such a case.

Paypal will not back him, without returning the battery by registered post, so you have some protection at least.

the problem is i sent it to him by normal unregistered post so he could easily claim item not recieved and he could win the paypal dispute

You have the emails from him, that prove he got it. If he starts a claim and says he didn't receive it, you can prove he's a liar.

That's a clear case of Feedback Extortion. Make sure you send eBay copies of those emails with the headers in included. If you're not familiar with email headers, see:

    http://pages.ebay.ie/help/account/sending-headers.html
