Dingle accommodation advice

    Hi all,

I'm going to a family wedding in The Skellig Hotel at the end of August and I'm looking for advice on where to stay while I'm there.

I'd rather not stay in the hotel coz I've two toddlers and we'd drive each other mad in a hotel room, so we're looking at renting a house for a few days or a week.

The problem I'm having is that I can only find a couple of websites that have comprehensive details on the properties and these properties seem to be very expensive. However, the main problem seems to be getting a house that we can rent from midweek, as they all seem to rent from sat to sat (sat is the day of the wedding).

I'm sure there must be plenty of people who've stayed there over the years and can recommend some websites or independent renters that I can contact.

Any help would be much appreciated

    Russel

There is a B & B just a 2 min walk up the road, ring the hotel and they will give you the number. It's gorgeous and will give ye that space.

I think your expectations are unrealistic: Dingle in August will be full to overflowing, and every house is likely to be let for full weeks or a fortnights. you seem to want two part-weeks. I can't see much chance of that suiting any property owner.

The Skellig is moderately child-friendly (an observation based on seeing families there, but I have never stayed there with children). I think your best move might be to phone the hotel, explain your situation, and ask them to help you get sorted with something suitable.

Thanks for the reply guys. I think you may be right and I may be expecting too much (why do the inlaws have to get married in such a nice place at such a nice time of year, damn them to hell! He he) anyway I thought I'd ask and chance my arm. Maybe the hotel or the B&B will be the way to go. I'll have to make a decision soon anyway, coz even with the recession my options are reducing week by week.

    Cheers very glad

Try Cois Chnoic holiday homes. Myself and alot of friends stayed there recently in an estate with a good lot of houses which were comfortable. They're near the Hillgrove nightclub.
