Does any one have one of these bad boys or have any experience with them? i was looking at getting one but the graphics card might be a little lightweight Radeon 3650 (or is it?) i wont be doing 'major' gaming on it (leave that to ps3 and 360) but it would be nice to have the option to play some directx 10 games.

the Dell XPS ones look nice but are very expensive - my budget is around 1200.

ideally was looking for laptop with bluray readable drive
    4 gigs ram
    decent screen hoping LED

am i looking for too much for 1200???

    Any thoughts/recommendations?

The best value 17" gaming laptop at the moment is the MSI GT725.

High-end processor (P9500), high-end GPU (Ati 4850), Blu-ray, 4Gb ram, 500Gb HDD, 1680x1050 screen. Can be gotten for around €1200 in the UK. That's some great specs for the price.

The motherboard supports CPU and GPU overclocking out of the box, with a 'turbo button' or some such. Takes the CPU to ~3Ghz.

It's just launched so you may want to wait a while to see reviews and build quality.

    Cheers voodoo_child,

Spec wise this really seems a winner - doesnt seem to be available to buy anywhere just yet though...will wait for a few reviews but its definitely one to watch...

Laptopsdirect.ie have it on their page (although most here suggest you don't deal with them). A good few other UK places do also. Irish store elara.ie have it on their page now too, price is a little more than the best UK deal though. Komplett already have some MSI laptops, so they may stock it too. They should all be shipping out soon, a few have gone out already.

If you're still looking at the Dell Studio 17, just note that they've upgraded the Studio 15 to an Ati 4xxx series. So you can assume the 17 will follow shortly.
