i bought a second hand mechanical tractor seat from bennets but the base is too narrow compared to the old one. there are these two bars which it sits on but they are two far apart by abot 1-2inches. is there special brackets that can be bought or will i have to just be creative. its a massey 3120 by the way.

Just a suggestion from seeing it done with a car seat . Cut the base off the original and new seats ,then weld the new seat onto the original base . Good luck anyway.

no you cant do that because there are suspensions connected to the base

could you not cut the base off the old seat and weld it on to the base of the new one. or would that cut out head room

im just afraid that i would have to put the old back seat back in if i cant get this one to fit. can you get brackets for them

try where ever you bought and bring the old one with you aswell, they might be able to make up brackets for you, or your nearest motor/auto factors
if you had the old one with you, you might even find a new one with the same bottom

Did you think of buying a new seat? I replaced an mechanical seat in a jcb telehandler with an air seat. Got it from kdr seating in england. Give them a ring you would be suprised of the prices compared to here and they were v.helpful. It would help if you know what seat was in it.

i bought a passenger side lorry seat from a lorry

a bostrom viking air seat for a 1988 jcb, best thing ever

the cab was open to the elements,so the seat was wet,i dried it over night after removing the cover

    best 20 quid ever spent

if you need to use 2 lengths of 1 inch box iron to go across the seat mounts and use 8 bolts instead of 4,that will save you ages trying to get mount brackets made
    or
make a template of the ones in the tractor with plywood and take it to a engineering shop and they will make something for it.
