    hows it goin
just a question about making an official release. my band wants to release a single (or even an album) but printing a load and selling them at gigs hardly counts as a release, does it?
so, just want to know whats the route that people follow? any advice etc?
    thanks

When you say 'official' what do you mean ? Do you mean that the single/album will be included in chart sales figures ?

My advice ? Record some songs, get the CD manufactured. Get as few as you can afford. Sell what you can, give away the rest. Repeat this a few times.

    hows it goin beeb!
thanks for the reply. i meant 'official' as in not just selling it our own gigs.
So, yeah i suppose i mean in the charts. not that we're trying to get a hit but just to make it an official release.
i know lots of friends have had a "single release gig" and all they did was sell it that one gig and that was it. we're looking to do something that has a bit more legs.

hey man if ya wanna do a proper single lanch go talk to someone in tower records in town. they always do it. Ya just talk to them, then put up posters around, then ya's play a little gig in tower, then from then on they'l stock yor single, an if its successfull they'l ask for more copies then if there's enough demand you can talk other music outlets and then once you sell enough your in the charts havin drinks with kanye west :p.

thats the best way i know,
    best of luck dude:D
