Yeah, last week, for the first time in my life I went to Tesco after a night out for some bread and it was shut. Can't blame them really, what with the remission and all

They must have left that out of their flyers.

They really shouldn't omit the recession like that.
How much was the bread, btw?

They cut those hours here in carlow not too long ago, still a load of staff working at night though. As far as i can see they've only saved the cost of paying one security guard for 7 hours. Surely they make more than that in that time.. It's bloody annoying though.

Not too sure, the Polish security gent was not forthcoming with the retail valuations of yeast based produce.

The people who work at night pack the shelves. They would still have to have a few people on for the checkouts.

In the one in Dundalk I never saw anyone working on the checkouts overnight, just the self-service open.

Was told this was coming but wasn't given a date. So far down here the 24hr store remains open full time but they cut back the hours of the petrol station. Building a new store and recently opened one in Tramore (which isn't 24hr).

I'm guessing there is more to it than just reducing the cost of paying a security guard and a couple of check out staff. There is probably costs involved in Insurance for the place at night and just the general hassle of having a bunch of people pissed out of their mind coming in and doing stupid stuff (lord knows I have).
I'd imagine the staff working night shifts on a Fri/Sat night have seen some strange things :pac:

Can't beat going into Tesco at 5am to fill the car with petrol... no gas queues. What I think is priceless is the way they cordon off the booze after 10pm and did the same on good friday and covered it over.

Ah stop going against the grain.
She's just trying to get a rise out of you.
Puns are her bread and butter tbh.

I was surprised it hadn't happened sooner to be honest. It would drive me nuts not having the option of a night-time stroll across to tescos.

I would have loafed someone tbh

Well there is a lot less bread going around, so it's to be expected, I suppose...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Was that the one in the Marshes shopping centre, didn't think that was open after 9 or 10pm, at least it wasn't the last time I checked.

Being open for only 5 hours isn't a good decision.

Having stores open at night is costless to Tesco's , they use a JIT stocking system so need smaller stockrooms and stock comes straight in off a truck onto shelves at night time.

I'd put you on Ignore, but there's no point, a load of others start it too. No offense meant, but it really bugs me. Once in a while is okay, but when you have to scroll through a couple of pages of it, its boring. IMO.

    Tesco...? Anyone?
