I'm gonna be getting a few looooong flights soon and want to get some movies to stick on my ipod touch. The problem is that I have an unlimited card and work in a video shop, so have seen the majority of recentish stuff out there!

I dont want to be watching anything too heavy on the flight, so take that into account. An example of some stuff that Ive missed that Ive put on there - Nick and Norahs Infinite Playlist & Half Nelson.

    Help muchly appreciated!

well if you want some undemanding fun I would recommend The Marine and 12 Rounds, both unashamedly old school action flicks.

John Cena? Are you having a laugh? The Marine was a pile of **** with explosions, nothing more =/

Ah well, my friend seems to love the marine too. My HATE for Cena is most likely making my opinion biased :D

Did anyone else read the thread title as if the OP wanted us to recommend him some boring films?

    No.

If you have seen most movies then maybe try getting some TV boxsets instead.
    Sopranos,Oz,The Shield etc.

Some not so recent films that are truely awesome:

"They Live" - John Carpenter flick with Rowdy Roddy Piper - great fun!
"Flight of the Dead" - ridiculously entertaining, does what it says on the tin!
"Magic" - 70's film with Anthony Hopkins where he plays a ventriloquist with a looney doll. Directed by Richard Attenborough!

As you have the unlimited / video shop thing going on I figure you've seen mainly new stuff. Here's a few oldies I've watched recently that I think are still well worth a watch.

    "McCabe and Mrs. Miller"
    "Blackboard Jungle"
    "High Plains Drifter"
"A Matter of Life and Death"
    "Straw Dogs"

(I agree with the person who said get some tv shows instead. Stuff like the ipod touch are more suited to that than trying to watch feature films on a screen that small. Still that said I've done it plenty of times myself. It can be a lifesaver on a longhaul or when you're stuck in the departure lounge)

    TV Shows instead!

Extras, Dexter, Entourage, Arrested Development, The Wire etc etc

You gonna watch "Straw Dogs" on a plane - good luck!!

Some inflight movies might include Airport, Aiport 1975, Airport '77, Airport '80, Snakes on a plane, Turbulence with Ray Liotta, Con Air.

The Marine ? I honestly thought that was one of the worst movies I have EVER seen. I know people throw that phrase around quite often, but I genuinely mean it! I couldnt even enjoy it on a silly action movie level.

I love They Live. I'll check out the other two.

The only ones Ive seen out of those is Straw Dogs...and its definitely not 'viewing on a plane' material!
    TV Shows instead!

Actually, tv shows might be a better idea. Some of my favorites :

Sopranos, The Wire, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Family Guy, Brass Eye, The Office, Extras, Arrested Development, Entourage, Father Ted, Firefly, Deadwood, Eastbound and Down

Ive also seen 24, Lost, Prison Break, Sarah Conor Chronicles, Chuck. Dexter

And recommendations outside of these would be welcome!

Supernatural, awesome series. Reaper is a good, comedic alternative to Supernatural too.

Fringe, Tusky. Get and watch Fringe.

Studio Ghibli is a good one to cheer you up on the journey. Subtitled movies may not be the best on portable devices though. Can you manage dubbed movies?

    Fringe though man. Great stuff.
Someone mentioned generation kill very good.
Get some House too and Californication.

Ye Fringe is also very good,as is Supernatural if you are into sci-fi and fantasy shows.

If you like Arrested Development then Better Off Ted is the way to go.

Also if you haven't listened to them the Ricky Gervais podcast just for Karl Pilkington, The Bugle Podcast also if you're into political humour and you can't go wrong with downloading a few classic Daily Shows and Colbert Reports ;)

It's only 6 episodes. Has Portia Di Rossi in it and is some of the insane and slightly twisted humour you get from AD. It's by Victor Fresco who also did Andy Richter Controls The Universe. Which is also another show you should check out coincidently enough.

And How I Met Your Mother.

If I had that much time I think I'd definietly rewatch The Wire tv show from the very start, its just awesome

If you want a couple of less well known movies, nothing too special.

    Freeway(1996) is an enjoyable flick.
The Prophecy (1995) is another enjoyable one.

Oh yeah and if you haven't seen 12 Angry Men(1957) you should get it. I tell everybody that just in case they missed it.
