Got a parking ticket, then I got a reminder in the post. The time of the offence on the reminder is different (Slightly) to the actual time printed on the ticket that was left on my windscreen.
Its only €40 but could I try to get this cancelled I wonder?
Or at least take the piss out of them and confuse them alittle over the time f*uck up.

Its only 5 mins wrong but they are very specific saying offence occured at 15.51 etc etc and then the reminder says 15.56. I will get onto them anyway.
I assume the wrong time is now entered on their system so if they did persue it, they would be chasing me for an offence that I never commited and they would have no ticket to prove that offence either.

Were you by any chance parked there at both 15.51 and 15.56?;)

Although you don't say in your post that you were at fault I am presuming that without making a song and dance about getting a ticket in the first place that you were genuienly at fault here.

Why not just man up, pay the pitiful €40 and stop wasting everybody's time (and money) in your local authority.

Yes I was totally at fault but that is beside the point. Actually, I finally got a hold of council person responsible. He said it had never happened before and would be very surprised as its all downloaded from the warden machine. I said I presume this will be torn up as if they were to persue it they would be chasing an offence that didnt exist and couldnt make anything of it. He said take the ticket in to them and it will be wiped out as he had never seen that problem before.
your attitude of just pay up stinks to be honest. I know any work I do has to be right. Nearly right wont do.
Get it right I say. Its not even the 40 Euro. I just hate that crack of "its close enough".

Are you sure you didn't get caught twice? The Gardai can ticket cars without leaving anything on the car - you might have been ticketed by both the Co co and the Gardai.

No, the notice has the same reference as the actual ticket so I think I will escape this one

Ah, take your medicine for feck's sake.

If you made a mistake in paperwork with 5 minutes difference, you'd hope that other people wouldn't argue over it. Errors happen. That's OK. Using them as petty excuses to get out of something you did is not OK.

I have been saying this for a while now (mainly about the clampers)

all the machines and printer thingies that they use are not calibrated so the times will be out. (and it would be too costly for them to calibrate them all)

as for the ticket you got - you should dispute it and hopefully will avoid paying the €40....fair play to ya for noticing it.

You are missing the point. The mistake they made was crucial to the whole thing so its a major mistake and should be punished so to speak.
It wasnt just a minor error. If I went to court, it wouldnt stand. They have agreed with this.

Update, took the ticket and the letter into council, they had a look. I received a letter in post saying "having viewed the case in detail, we have decided to cancel the fine".
    Result I say!
