    Hey all,

My boyfriend has just booked a weekend in Paris for our one year anniversary. In return i want to organise a really nice meal, so i was wondering if anyone had been to the Moulin Rouge? And is it worth the money to go? If not i was thinking of booking a restaurant near the Eiffel tower which i expect to be around the same price as the Moulin Rouge show (260euro for two people). So im looking for advice to which would be more worth it...and any restaurant recommendations near the Eiffel tower would be greatly appreciated too :)

    BB

Difficult to say if the Moulin Rouge is worth it really as some people love it and others hate it. Does the idea of a show with some topless girls interest you?

To be honest I think it's a tourist trap. Always too packed; Full of tour-bus tourists, food is terrible.

As for restaurants...does it have to be naer the tower? Do you mean that you'd like a restaurant where you can see it from your table?

€130 per person should get you a very, very nice meal in Paris :)

Yeah i have heard alot of bad reviews of the Moulin Rouge with the food etc...it doesnt strike me as a romantic night out either! So maybe i'll ditch that idea :)

It doesnt have to be beside the Eiffel Tower, just somewhere we can soak up the Paris atmosphere and enjoy ourselves. I looked into the dinner cruise on the Seine, the menu seems nice and its a good price..have you done that before?

Eating on the Seine is a nice idea and is much, much more romantic than the ML (IMHO). You have the option of a fixed boat which doesn't move or a cruise-type experience.

There are about 4/5 different companies offering these cruises (I'll dig up an old thead in a sec) and some are well worth it.

Not that it makes any difference but a lot of French wouldn't bother with these cruises. At a guess I'd say that over 50% of your cash is going towards the actual cruis and not towards your meal. So if you're looking for the best foor that you can get for €130 pp then a 'noral' romantic restaurent would be best but that isn't to say that the food can't be very good.

moulin rouge is overrated, but something definatly worth seeing in the same area is sacre coeur by day or night
