    Hi all,

Just a quick Question to reassure myself. Does anyone know the hourly rate (there or thereabouts ) charged to customers for Labour at the moment in the Wexford area.
Reason I ask is I have just got My Jeep fixed for DOE and have a feeling I may have been overcharged.

Can anyone give me an idea of prices?

    Thanks

    was it a nixer?
or a main dealer or independent garage?

sometimes depends on wht they done, ie not a fixed hourly rate, but a fixed price for a given job.

what exactly did you have carried out?

It varies from garage to garage. Tell us the work you had done and the price you paid and someone will tell you if you've been overcharged or not.

Wexford I would expect from very little up to €70 an hour at a main dealer.

I wouldn't imagine fitting two brakes pads would cost more than fifty euro in labour... All depends, what kind of car was it?

i doubt some 1 fitted just 2 pads to your car. does that price incude the parts

Was your car/van also checked over for the DOE and brake pads replaced if so €175.00 would be reasonable.

No it wasn't an overall service for the DOE, just to fit new brake pads. the €175.00 was for Labour only the parts cost around €125.00.

is it excessive. It seems to me that the mechanic was charging €50.00 per hour.. Is that the normal rate..

Hopefully I won't need anything done too soon again but i will be getting quotes beforehand..

there easy to fit brake pads, easy for me anyway, i do my own repairs unless it was something internal with engine,,, though i have done timing belt and head gaskets,
i,m sure the web would have told you how to fit the pads to your jeep safely,,, pads can only go in one way, and there is no bleeding to be done,,,

they may have skimmed the brake discs too if they were scored. this costs extra.
