I was contemplating the Dell offer (sub 400quid one with monitor), went on to Komplett and threw some money at them. Here is the spec, what you think?

Depends on what it's for? NorthQ are very poorly regarded, just so you know, that'd be the first thing everyone will recommend you change regardless of the machines purpose. It's a nice high spec machine, so that might lead to believe you'll be playing games - if so, the 7600GS is capable but very budget, I'd recommend a minimum of something like an X1650xt or 7600/8600gt for someone building a new machine with that purpose, and even then you're only hitting low mid range.

I wasn't really on a budget, that's all I had left to max my credit card with. I'm running SLI so I might put in another of the same card. I'm not happy with the NorthQ too, but something for the moment, maybe push it up to a decent 700w when I slot the extra graphics card.

If its the limit of your cash, I'd recommend dropping the 6000+ to something much lower, and making up for it with a stronger card. Will definitely be worth it. Not really a lot of value (or even performance) in 7600GS Sli to be honest.

It would also not cost much more, maybe even only a few euro, to get a better psu, not output wise by the way, but a good reliable brand.

I wouldn't even use a NorthQ as a temporary "stand-in" PSU, they are utter crap. Any reason you want to go with an AM2 build?

Really? Any reason? I'm very much a fan of AMD, but why should you not get a better rig because they couldn't get their thumbs outta their asses. Barcelona so far at 1.6/1.8GHz and not looking too impressive.

No, the Athlons seem to hit a wall at around 3.2GHz. I'm not sure why they released it, maybe to show ppl "this is as far as this architecture goes", I don't know. I think some people have got up to 3.4GHz, but when you consider the %OCs on core2duos, its pretty disappointing.

Also, Demon he said he wants an SLI mobo. I would agree with the P35 choice tho and get a new GFX card if your budget allows.

Also ditch XP.

Looking at a lot of your initial choices, the words "dead end" spring to mind. Don't fence yourself in by buying into redundancy, allow some room to expand and although I hate the term "futureproof" in computing, a different setup will help you in the long run.

Seriously, aside from "futureproof", "fanboy" is a term that grinds my gears. You are a consumer and should buy the best product available to your budget and needs. Did some guy from AMD rescue your cat out of a tree or something??

The 6000+ is good, but a 6000+/570 system is a dead-end (see above) and when you HAVE to sell on and move to the next platform, it will be worth very little. If you don't need SLI now, I would really recommend moving to a core2duo/p35 system as recommended by demon.

ALSO, there are much better cases available. Aerocools seem to focus on cheap aesthetics and funny "turbine" design, but offer little in the way of quality cases.

Just list the components you need (CPU, PSU, etc.), what you will be using it for and any other requirements (cool and quiet, big neon lights, etc.)

I need all components.
No peripherals needed.
250gig hard-drive is suffficient.
Mostly gaming.
XP pro, not liking that vista at all.
Want to not worry about running alot of programs at once, WM Player, mulitple poker tabes, internet, games all at once.

Nice spec Anti...I still think you shoud give Vista a go, if you have to fork out for an operating system. Its not as bad as people make out and driver support is getting there, you will have to switch at some point to make use of DirectX10.

wow look at the saving from hardwareversand ! You were able to add in a 640mb gts, a dvd rw and a bigger Hdd, for almost 100€ less. But how is the shipping with these guys?

I'm currently waiting for mine, ordered last monday, sent the bank transfer last wednesday, they received the money on monday, had to change PSU yesterday and they shipped it yesterday. Should be here by monday/tuesday.

Ha! Yeah, I originally had the Seasonic S12 500W, but they said its been discontinued on their site, and I had heard (ahem) and been reading great things about the corsair, so I made the switch.

I'm happy with my mobo, ram and processor, I know the GC isn't fantastic, and I balls up the PSU, but they all work.

I think my mobo and processor is fantastic.

Its not fantastic, its very good. Unfortunately if you want fantastic these days you need to make the move to intel. I think the 6000+ was intended as more of an upgrade path for existing AM2 owners, rather than tempting new buyers (except for "fanboys" of course).

To quote on of my preferred sites:

As the last Socket-AM2 processor before AMD's new-architecture makes its debut, the Athlon 64 X2 6000+ doesn't set any land speed records, nor does it send off AMD's most successful architecture to date with any sort of a bang. AMD is still relying on its 90nm process for the top bin parts and thus there's no real power efficiency in the X2 6000+ to be impressed by. We still have to wait for Barcelona before we can get really excited about anything AMD is doing, but recent price cuts positioning Socket-AM2 as a more affordable platform have made this an easier pill to swallow.

Maybe, but only using DirectX9...if you want the DX10 goodies you need windows Vista. I haven't seen the proposed sys req, but your GFX card is a bit low for most new games.

Neuro, of course you can cancel the komplett order, just call them up and tell them so. Once you haven't accepted the delivery from the courrier you can cancel it. If worst comes to worst, just refuse the delivery and tell them to return it to sender.

On the spec of the PC, definitely order a conroe setup from hardwareversand.de, way better bang for your buck.

Otherwise off with ye before I arrange a siteban. There's only a few reasons why you'd need that specific device over any old generic DVD-ROM, and all of them are instant-siteban-grade naughties :eek:
