    Hi all,

Looking to get a turbo trainer to while away a few hours during the dark winter evenings for myself and my OH. I have had a look at a few models but not really sure about what are the main things to look for or if anyone had any specific model recommendations that would be great too.

    Thanks

Tacx Satori for simplicity or Tacx Flow for technical training (wattage, HR zones etc).

Someone will be along presently to tell you to buy rollers but google says

0 people "died in a turbo trainer accident" whereas at least
1 person has "died in a roller accident"

I have to tell this story...I do about once a year here when folks start talking about rollers...
There was a local cyclist...a fellow I had met and was known locally to all the roadies...he died in a roller accident.
Was riding in the living room, lost it on the rollers, fell and smashed into the glass coffee table cutting his jugular...he was home alone and bled to death before he could get up off the floor.
    Let's be careful in there!

so it's up to you, train with adjustable resistance or risk a messy coffee table incident...

Maybe so, but you didn't die!

Although, I (and maybe others) suspect you may in fact be close to invincible - so you would skew the results and as an outlier are removed from turbo vs roller danger analysis

Lads, i'm a bit slow to add, but last friday night i fell of my turbo trainer, skewer broke, i fell over and now have a broken wrist in 3 places, and a couple of cracked ribs. So now i can't drive, ride my motorbike, or my roadbike. Nice.

Thanks for all the replies but think I'm going to stick with my usual route of badly pot-holed, sparsely lit back roads with no lights attached to my bike and dressed, ninja-like, all in black. Seems like the safest option!
