[26th/29th November] - DURC Air Gun Open

The DURC Air Gun open will take place on Sunday the 29th November with details at:

10.30
12.30
2.30

Entry is €15 (€10 for students) for Air Rifle and Air Pistol shooters.

Advance booking is required and can be made by emailing rifle@tcd.ie.
There are also two details being run on Thursday, 26th November at 5.30 and 7.30 in case you can't make the Sunday.

Just to add, we are planning on running a 'fun final' which will consist of the top 10 people who are present after the last detail. Scores will be taken from your first 40 shots.

These have been run in the past and are really good fun with a lot of pressure, banter and a great training experience all being rolled into one!

Just want to remind everyone that there'll be a pistol match as well, with prizes for first to third. Hopefully see the same good turnout as for recent air pistol matches.

Thursday details are now fully booked,

On Sunday there are 3 spaces left on the 2.30 detail, 12.30 detail has decent spaces left and 4 spaces left on the 10.30 one.

Nice to see that we have loads of pistol bookings and also nice to see loads of new people turning up. Can we make it the first air rifle match where 5 details are fully booked out?

No, because that happened several times before now. Back in the day, the UCD matches would run for three or four days at full or nearly full capacity on more than one occasion.

Great to see such a huge pistol turnout with 12 pistol shooters booked in so far.

That about sums up the match for me. Not too much went right today, from start to finish.

Mind you, at least one shooter missed qualifying for a slot on the Irish Team because of what sounded like a badly behaving sear, so I didn't have the worst day of everyone there.

Enjoy it while it lasts

The clubs seem to wax and wane in cycles - UCD had a fairly bad low two or three years ago and are coming back up the slope now; TCD's around about a midpoint at the moment (though we seem to have more alumni around to help stabilise things a bit over the long term), but there have been some monster lows in TCD over the years as well as some really good highs.
