Meteor Broadband - Incurring huge bill

    All,
    Have subscription to Metoer Mobile Broadband 5GB per month.
    Last months bill was >€100
    This months bill is > €160

    Looks like I am using approx 1GB per day when I analyse the detailed bill. However, I am a light user, checking emails, browsing web sites. I dont download music, films, watch TV etc.

    So cannot figure out how I am running over the 5GB cap each month. I estimate approx 30GB.

    When I look at detailed bill I get hundreds of the following line items

    Date Time CalledNo Call Duration
    15.11.2009 13.30 GPRSMBB 29490 kB
    15.11.2009 13.43 GPRSMBB 29490 kB
    15.11.2009 13.52 GPRSMBB 29490 kB
    15.11.2009 13.57 GPRSMBB 29490 kB
    ...
    ...
    ...
    ...



    There are literally hundreds of records with identical call durations of 29490kB or 29491kb

    Now I am staring at a bill in excess of €160 and no idea why it is so much. Also tied into a year contract. Looks like I will be in a position where I am afradi to use the service. I have contacted Meteor and she said she would get back on Monday.

    Any advise would be greatly appreciated

    Could you install something like Wireshark and DUMeter and see where all the data is coming/going to? When you see DUMeter light up like a Christmas tree you could flip into Wireshark and see what's doing what.

    Have you got a firewall? If you load up a dos window (start->run->cmd) the type netstat -a it should list all you computer's connections. Then type the IP addresses into the domain dossier here and decide whether your computer should be talking to these IP addresses ie. if it's hotmail it's ok if it's China you may have a form of Malware or Virus

    I presume you are on the 16.99 package a month you should move to the 10GB package you won't have as much out of bundle charges

    Loaded up Net meter and have been monitoring my useage over the last few days. Basically I am using approx 100MB per day which averages out at 3Gb per month.

    Cannot understand why the useage has been so high.
    Also connot understand why there are so many line items on my bill which are showing identical useage of 29490kb

    Have you called their customer service number to ask?
    Maybe they'll be able to shed light on the usage and line items.

    Called customer service. Got a nice guy. But he could not shed any light on this issue. Checked out my account and said everything was normal.

    Hi OP. I signed up to Meteor recently and my first bill had the same records of 29490 kb which seemd to be timed every 5-10 mins when i was using the internet. My bill was'nt over the limit though.
