Well here we go again brass monkey weather coming up on us again so the weather people say; so are you going to prepare yourselves for it this time? did you learn anything from the last big freeze or have you forgotten the troubles it caused you? I am going off to get some oil and food in and put some lagging around my fecking water pipes so I do not die of: a) starvation: b)freezing: c)thirst:

If it snows, then I won't be too disappointed.
    But seriously, this is annoying

The weather forum is saying it will get cold but not enough for snow :(

Tip 1: Fill the bathtub/buckets with water so you'll have drinking water in case the pipes freeze.
Tip 2: Put antifreeze in the coolant and concentrated screen wash in the washer reservoir.
Tip 3: Check in Commuting/Transport forum before making car or bus journeys.

Is this like that 10 feet of snow we were supposed to get everyday between xmas and new years?

Also a friend of mine filled up his empty wheelie bin with water so he could flush his toilet

Is this definite or do they just think there`s a chance it might happen?

You'll regret that. We had the wettest Autumn and the coldest Winter in years. Common sense says we will have the hottest summer.

The models have changed a fair bit since that post and I think they have more favoured the Atlantic winning out for the moment keeping the weather pretty mild. That can still all change and MT's latest post would be the most uptodate on the current situation.

Insulation keeps the house warm in winter, and cool in summer (provided you close curtains at noon and etc). ;)

Insulating the loft is good during the summer as well, otherwise you 'll find the house gets too hot - heat from the attic coming down through the ceiling. ;)

edit: what jumpguy says as well.
