Also starring Jackie Earle Haley (Rorschach / "new Freddy Krueger") and Chi "get out of my office!" McBride.

Could be good.. but I do think the new series introduced this year have been the worse they've ever been!

I couldn't give a crap if every new series bar 'Modern Family' was canned!

Actually i like Valley (he was great in Keen Eddie), he's a capable actor given the right role/script etc. - i'll give it a shot for an ep. or two. Doubt "Past Life" will appeal to me....Basq, did you watch "Mental" on Fox?

Basq, did you watch "Mental" on Fox?
Couldn't make it through the first episode.. simple Maths:

Stupid plain-looking woman from 'The 4400' + uncredible actor (even by 'Prison Break' standards) + cheap-knockoff that's too reminiscent of 'House' = BORE!

Directed by the guy who did Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and Produced by McG. Ooooh Kaaaaay.....

(OK McG gets more stick than he deserves, but Simon West doesn't inspire confidence).

Cast is good, though. Worth a look.

Unfortunately.. McG (e.g the poor man's Michael Bay) deserves everything he gets!

Outside of his producer credits in 'Chuck' and 'Supernatural', I have zero respect for the man.

McG is dire!!!...dear god, no idea these clowns were involved, all flash, bang, whallop and MTV music video editing....putme right off now.

The only reason he gets my kudos, to be honest. He obviously doesn't have a huge hand in those shows or they'd be glossy overproduced messes.

Saw the pilot for this and based on that I will give it a chance, although it doesn't quite hit the mark. Thought Mark Valley was quite good in this comedic role, character is a bit of a wiseass but likeable. I reckon it will be one of those good escapist fun programmes, such as Burn Notice or Chuck but needs to shape up a bit more to be as good as those.

    Did McG not produce Terminator:Salvation?

    He directed it.

I thought that. Far better than Transformers. I really liked it, but I think he directed Terminator: Rise of the Machines too, so perhaps I wasn't expecting much.

McG also produced The OC :( or One Tree Hill or some other ****.

I thought it was muck myself... but different strokes..

Jonathon Mostow made 'Rise of The Machines' - whose most recent film was 'Surrogates' with Bruce Willis.

Surrogates is muck! Did McG not have something to do with Rise of the Machines?

    Yep, 'Surrogates' was woeful.

Don't think McG had anything to do 'Rise' but could be wrong!

Looking forward to this so I'll definitely check out the first few episodes. Does anyone know what FOX is pairing this with though? It seems it's getting Glee's current time slot and day but I doubt they'll be much overlap of viewers...

My eyes bounced when I (mis)read that. I would almost have watched it had it actually starred the obnoxious Kerryman.

Damn enjoyable show. I really liked it.

Chance is very like Michael in Burn Notice, but without the smugness. That fight with the bald dude was very well done (and pretty nasty too). And Jackie Earle Haley is cool as f**k.

*sigh*.... another one for the weekly list. :)

    Recommended.

    Loved it too.

Good idea delivered well, but it depends on whether the script writers can develop the characters and keep the viewers interested.

    Recommended for now :)

When should we expected over here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,623 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

It needs to find its feet in the States first. If ratings are huge, it'll get here sooner rather than later.

How did we get the original series?:D

    Enjoyable, but nothing spectacular...
If there wasn't so many good shows out there at the moment, I might even watch the show every week, but it didn't give me enough to want to come back for more, so I won't be watching from here on in...
Not saying it's bad, just think it's a bit middle of the road...

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

^ have to agree with CN, Tricia Helfer was the reason to watch this!!!!....it's just seems a bit confused as to what it wants to be, i see comedic touches, then it kinda gets serious, then action, it dosen't seem to know what kinda show it is.

McG as a producer????????....that should send alarm bells ringing, but Simon West....well he was behind the fantastic Keen Eddie (also starring Valley), Roarsach was disappointing, i was expecting him to be a really dark character.

Did Danny Glover need to pay his pool boy that week?...kinda random him at the end. Dunno....there just dosen't seem enough substance to keep continued interest, i will give it another ep. or two as i have seen many times they make changes after the pilot is made.

It needs more meat, a backstory, some kinda arc...otherwise it's "mission of the week" save random person and take the bullet fluff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,623 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Sorry... just needed to quote this in case it vanished. :p

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

^ but shows like GG or Greek don't pretend to have more meat or more then the fluff they are. Different shows offer different qualities, the so-called low brow shows don't pretend to be "must see" amazing tv, wheras HT seems to want to be more then it is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,623 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Its not Gossip Girl or Greek I was talking about. :)
    Anyway, back on topic...

Don't know when they will be showing it but IIRC Sci Fi announced last year that they had acquired the rights to it...

"The series premiere of Fox’s Human Target was at least reasonably near the scoring rings with a 2.9 adults 18-49 rating. How it does in its regular timeslot will determine its future though."

It was pretty enjoyable. The fight scene with the bald assassin was really good and looked painful. The main characters are kind of generic for a show though. Good guy, his friend who wants to keep him out of trouble and a bad guy trying to be good. Not sure what the point of having Danny Glover was in the end unless hes going to be in with the second episode.

The CGI was terrible though. They used the same segment 3 times. The second time was a mirror image then the third was it in reverse

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

HIGH OCTANE describes the second ep. - very Jerry Bruckheimer....fast action based ep.
Better then the pilot, though it just felt a bit dense and cluttered script wise, they seem to be suggesting backstory for Chance, dropping hints that Christopher Chance s not his real name and that he worked for some organisation previously etc.

I did say it needed more meat and arc, better then the first...i'll watch the third and see how it goes.

This is a new American show and it's awfulness knows no bounds. It's about some form of body guard type dude. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1439741/

I don't know why it's so popular, maybe it's just that Americans have such low standards now. There are so many stupid mistakes and stupidity in the show it's astounding. It wouldn't be too bad if it had some sort of comedy value but it doesn't which makes all the mistakes in the show even worse.

    It's awful, truly awful.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

There is a thread already on HT....it's not popular per se, it's ratings thus far are OK, but not great....it remains to be seen if it gets renewed.

I've only seen the trailer and it looked decent, but it's hard to know from a 2 minute ad.

As for ratings being good it's 2 episodes in so I don't think you can tell anything yet. Give it another 4 or 5 episodes and it should even out to it's proper ratings slot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,623 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Its not awful at all..... just switch off your brain and go with the flow.
I thought the first 2 episodes were good fun.

Merging this with the other HT thread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,789 ✭✭✭✭ScumLord

    Nothing makes any sense
the thing with the brakes on the train
in the first episode was just daft, I'm also sick of these prolonged fight scenes that are just time wasters and make the lead character who's supposed to be the bees knees seem like a hairdresser that never threw a punch in their lifes. It's funny how in the second episode
they say the planes upside down but when they go to fix the problem they didn't even bother to make the set upside down.

Just not my cup of tea, if it had a bit more humour in it, it might be watchable for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,569 ✭✭✭The Don

Episode 3 was the best so far. Good action and the chemistry between the characters is getting better. The female FBI agent works well with Chance and it was kind of obvious that she'll be his love interest. Some good humour thrown in again.

Bad points, the bike jump was a bit too far and the Russian securtiy not wearing bullet proof vests.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

^100% agree....i really hope they bring back Emmanuelle, i suspect they will....as stated great chemistry + best ep, so far.

Heads up!....ep. 7 was broacast by Fox (US) on Wednesday gone....BUT, ep. 8 is out!
I think it was broadcast Sunday night by CTV in Canada :-)

Five months after announcing the acquisitions of alien remake V and comic adaptation Human Target the Sci Fi channel has finally settled on their debut dates.

V, starring Lost's Elizabeth Mitchell and Firefly's Morena Baccarin, is to air on Tuesdays at 10pm from April 13 while Human Target, which sees Fringe's Mark Valley take the lead as a bodyguard, premieres on Sci Fi the following night, again at 10pm.

Both shows have, so far, received mixed reviews from international fans and critics.

I hope Emmanuelle Vaugier becomes a permanent addition to the cast

BTW kinda OT but just seen that Mark Valley is married to Fringe co-star anna Torv

    You mean "Mr Square Chin"?

He reminds me of the Batman from "The Animated Series".
