AVOID THE NEGATIVE XP GLITCH

    So apparently there is a glitch going around on the consoles which is the opposite of the "instant prestige" glitch in which you got so much XP that you would instantly prestige with just one kill. This time around, you will get so much negative XP that you will instantly go back to level 1 of your current prestige.

    To prevent this happening, you have to act quickly when you're dropped in a game like this, when you kill someone and get something like -5,000,000 or -9,999,999 XP points. As your XP will not be updated to the IW-NET servers until after the match ends or indeed when you leave/quit the match, you must instead quickly quit out of the game completely and go back to your dashboard, OR unplug your network cable / wifi connection, so that the connection is cut and stats prevented from being uploaded to IW-NET.

    Nice job daherlihy! I have to say if this isn't some sort of hoax then it's probably the worst game exploit to have been found so far, especially if it goes viral, like the UFO glitch on COD4!

    Just to clarify, and please state the obvious for everyone...how do you spot that you have dropped into such a game?

    When you kill someone, you'll get -9,999,999 XP points, or similar.

    One of my mates was telling me it happened 2 nights ago and he switched off his PS3, not sure to believe him but if this is turns out to be genuine, then thanks for the heads up, I will make sure to do as stated above.

    Ok, how do you spot a 10th prestige player? I'm sure there are many players out there that have just started playing and do not know how to spot such a player.

    I think the OP should edit his post to include all such answers.

    Not necessarily, I've been in loads of games with several prestige 10's, and nothing happened...

    True but I'm not risking it, you can if you like :) If this does go viral then you're going to come across more and more games and rather than being 'unlucky' to find you're in one of those games, it will become the 'norm' for a couple of weeks until IW and Sony/MS etc get off their asses and release a new patch. In the meantime, thousands of gamers will be unable to alter their weapon classes or be stuck with low level perks etc and have to rework to unlock them.

    EDIT: Remember, in COD4 the UFO glitch was something you rarely ever saw then all of a sudden within three days every game you went into had at least one UFO in it.

    UFO?

    I'll keep on gaming regardless and once I get anything negative in terms of XP points, then I'll be unplugging my modem and router straight away.

    Can we also add that it resets you back to no prestige (newbie) ... not level one of your current one!

    It actually only resets you back to rank/level 1 of your current prestige, not to "no prestige"

    You have to be in an infected lobby or have a jtagged xbox for this to happen. The chances are slim.

    it's not on ps3 you need a hacked console to host the game, the ps3 is still secure so it's only pc 360.

    also it's a hack not a glitch.

    Thanks for the heads up! heard about it and thought it was only for the xbox so it didn't really bother me :O thanks, i probably would've quit the game normally thinking that would work.

    Why the hell is IW not tackling this straight away. I know nothing about developing games so maybe its difficult and they can't. For a game making so much money why is there so many glitches that take so long to patch like the care package glitch which still can be done i think :mad:
