Chorus Looking for money off me

Hi there, 4 of us friends moved out of a house in Dublin near the end of 2008. Cancelled DD to Chorus as we were moving out. They rang me just this week looking for €150. I didn't ask for what but I've a fair idea €100 of that is for the early cancellation fee which we decided not to pay at the time. Still fairly broke now so what do people think we should do now? We're all still fairly broke. They don't have my new address, all they have is my name and number. Thanks in advance.

Get out of the country while you still can!

You did sign a contract and you did breach it. Best thing is to give them a call and see can you come to and arrangement. It's better than trying to ignore it.

If you continue to ignore it they'll pass the debt to legal firm for a collection and in time may be factored to a debt collection company to trace you and collect. You're far better off trying to get €37.50 (or whatever you can) out of each of your friends and paying it off now than risking having a judgement against your own name.

Ring up and ask to speak with a supervisor. Have a very polite but massive row with them about you having to pay this. Agree as low an amount as possible, pay that.
