    Celica for me. 22

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,689 ✭✭✭JimmyCrackCorn

Sierra if you plan to take care of it. Celica if your going to be a bad person.

Its a crime to destroy a sierra these days.

    Just my personal opinion. (28)

The VVT-i Celica is a bit pointless. VVTL-i is the only way to go.

I'd go Sierra as it will be a lot less common and they're still good looking (28)

Sierra all the way, unless of course you're a hair dresser then the obvious choice would be the celica.(30)

What's the difference between the two Colm?

I voted Sierra, simply because I love the looks. (23) Two very very different cars though. The new model Celica seems to be favoured by people that arn't all that into cars.

the VVT-i is 140bhp and the VVTL-i is 189bhp - The VVTL-i is similar to VTEC or MIVEC.

there's a world of difference in driviing them. As you probably know by now I'm a fan of high revving engines.

    As am I :)

I never knew the 190 was VVTL-i, i assumed they were the same engine only tuned differently!
So is there any kick at all from the VVT-i?

A friend of mine's Dad has owned a Celica, and currently owns a Sierra Cossie.

Easily I prefer the Cossie, the Celica felt way too stiff, acceleration was quite slow and interior was rather tacky.
    The Cossie though.....wow.

    And I'm 18.

The RS Cosworth wasn't an option, AFAIK the e2000 is a 2L, 125ps, the Cosworth is over 200

    Sierra for me too (22)

Buddy is after one at the min and he's 20 , I was offered a Cossie at a good price a few months ago,
but looking at the price of parts on ebay turned me off for the time being

Only two people I know with the last gen Celica are both girls
ones a hairdresser the others something to do with make up

I'd love an old shape Celica though, either a GT-4 or even an SSIII

Costs too much to v8? Your 18 and Ls1s are now very affordable.

I also first learned to drive in a sierra. Im surprised at how much money they are making now.

If you like your modern comforts a Celica is fine. If you want a rwd thirsty cruiser the Sierra 2.0 (there not a fast car).

what are you driving at the minute?

In all honesty I wouldn't waist my money on a hyundai coupe, save your money for further down the line when your older with more NCB.

Trust me you'll thank me in a few years time

if this was a poll between the old type celica either the one with the pop up lights or the one with the round lights id def pick the celica but dont like the new ones theyve turned into a hairdressers car so my vote goes to the sierra

I was talking to a friend about those last gen Celicas, we both agreed it looks like something a Power Ranger would drive

Glad to see people have sense and sierra is winning . Fol i told ya that coupe is a womens car or else a pink collared male haha. Been driving sierra about a week now most comfortable car ever leather seats air con ps electric windows very advanced car for its age . And for whoever said car is slow have u ever driven one because i would consider it very fast unless your out driving the likes of a 3 lt supra turbo . :D:D:D:D:D

Go with the Sierra, as long as its a good one. Cool retro motor.
You'll see plenty of Celica's but not many Sierra's. Be different.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,912 ✭✭✭I Was VB

Sierra for me! And i'm a Toyotaphile but to drive every day the Sierra would win, Celica is a nice car but i really would need a vagina to drive one.

My old man had a Sierra 2.0 GL in 1988 I think. Still on a carb back then. I didn't like it much tbh.

A 3 door Sierra Cosworth on the other hand is a fantastic car.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,638 ✭✭✭zilog_jones

T230 Celica is ugly, Sierras are old - dunno what sort condition they're generally in these days, but I've seen some real rust buckets around. I take it's the 2.0 DOHC you're looking at? I do have some fondness for the old Fords (except for any of the FWD Escorts) but dunno if I could put up with something that old as a daily driver (security would be a concern).
