I'm doing Prof 2 Auditing next week and am just looking for advice from anyone who may have done this (or any Prof 2 subject) in April. How did they approach the open book scenario? I've heard some say its just a distraction.

I've been studying Auditing through BPP Home Study, as i find them the best. I passed Prof 1 Law and Auditing in April through this route. I'm just wondering how others are approaching P2 Auditing. Personally, i'm just doing out past exam questions at the minute and getting a better understanding of the subject. Its pointless trying to sift through a big fat text book IMO

Would ya say just doing out past papers is sufficient? Prof 1 auditing is reasonably fresh in my head, and i do quite a bit of Audit at work too.

I'd say so ,that is what I did in 05 and sure is n't P2 applying audit "practice" to stuff,as far as I remember ,so you will be fine . good luck and let me know how it goes

    hey

I did my first three open book exams this week and i've the last one later. It has me very confused to be honest.. the first two exams went brilliantly but yesterday was a disaster..
Anyway if your brining in loads of stuff just make sure its well ordered and tabbed. you need to know where everything is before you go and not search through everything when your in the exam.
you really just need to have the books there as reference. I used the past paper from April, the pilot paper and any articles issued by the examiner the most.

Good luck tomorrow hope you get the paper you want

Was very happy with it. Thought the open book helped me a lot as i only had a couple of books with me...some people had piles and piles of books and notes which i thought to be pointless. Fairly hungover today!!

Well i won't count my chickens before they hatch but i would be very upset if i was to fail the Audit paper. Roll on April and the dreaded Corp Reporting! Plus Knowledge Management and Tax obviously!

Isn't it funny how you think you did good after the exam but then the doubts start creeping in leading upto the results.

Good luck to everyone getting results :D

Thank millyvanilli I need all the luck I can get..

I know its such a horrible feeling doubting yourself about how they went.. go from the extremes of thinking I might just get them all to oh my god I failed them all

Time will tell how it goes you'll prob hear my cries of joy or saddness around the country either way :)

    Advanced Corp Reporting 44.5
    Tax 58.5

    Strategy Leadership and KM 50

I had to watch the postman start at the far side of the apt block and work his way around (i'm the last apt) it nearly killed me!

Turns out CPA sent the letter to my home address...passed! 54%!!

Thought i did much better, but i'm guessing Prof 2 are marked much harder than Prof 1.

Gona attempt the final 3 now in April...SLKM, Tax and the dreaded Corp Reporting. Does anyone know if you can get your papers back to see how they marked you?

As far as i know they wont send your papers back, but I asked them for a break down of my marks last yr and they gave them to me.

Congrats on passing, doing 3 will make it alot easier

And well done on getting 3 EM2008, hard luck on the ACR, Tom will not be happy about that!

Cheers! Happy to have got it out of the way...a few people thought i was mad to waste one of my 4 attempts on just one exam, but i hope to prove them wrong.

I'll start worrying next week...roll on the booze is right!!

So is anyone sitting these next month? I've just started studying this week. Attempted and passed Auditing in August so sitting Tax, Corp Reporting and SLKM this time. Corp Reporting looks like it's gona be the worst by a mile

Doing Corp Reporting and Auditing myself. Not too sure what to make of either to be honest. First time doing open book too so not really sure what to expect.

I think one book per subject should be loads? Maybe some past exam papers + solutions too.

Yeah i sat Auditing in August, got 54 in it even though i thought i passed it much more comfortably. It was my first open book too so didn't really know what to expect but i actually found quite a bit of stuff in my books that were relevant to the questions. I studied using BPP so didn't have piles of college notes like some people in the exam.

Are you just sitting 2 by choice? How are you approaching Corp Reporting? I'm just doing out questions and trying to get the hang of them basically

I did them last year,Im not sure if it is a help or not. Dont bring in too much,it will be a distraction.the 3.5 hours goes very quickly when you are looking through notes.
I made the mistake of looking for similiar questions and that wasted alot of time, nearly didnt get the exam finished.
Also make sure what you bring is well tagged and referenced.
Best of luck to ye all

I'm using BPP too. Btw which BPP book did you bring in with you. How did you approach the auditing exam. I'm focusing on previous exam papers and just doing as many questions as possible.

Yah getting these two out the way. I wouldn't be able to do 4 in one go, it would only be a waste of time.

Yeah pretty much the same approach to Corp Rep. Doing case studies over and over and getting used to them. I think the main thing is to get used to spending 3.5 hours on the one case study!

I just brought in my past exam papers book and the text book. I didn't need the textbook as i had all the past answers categorised and well noted so i knew exactly where to look. I literally just did out all the past questions...seemed to work anyway!

Corp Reporting is the one that seems to catch a lot of people out so i'm just hopeful that i don't fall into that category too.
