I dont really like the traditiontal top table idea, has anyone any ideas of what we could do. we were thinking about a round table in the middle of the room...would this look odd?? or any suggestions of what we could do different? :)

I was actually thinking of doing the same thing. I don't really want to be on "display" during the meal, and I don't like the idea of a long table (with people only on one side) because it makes it harder to talk to others.

We are having a round table instead of the traditional top table. We are also mixing up the traditional seating a bit too so that people in the wedding party arent sitting away from their partners.

exactly, i hate the thought of being on display and want to be able to chat to all the bridal party.... If i went for a round table what could i do with the table just to make it stand out a bit more than the guests tables??? would it be insulting to have our backs turned to everyone when making speechs?? Another idea i seen was a table shaped like a horse show..

We had a slightly larger round table, and only sat around 3/4 of it - means nobody had their back to the room really. Hate that idea of everyone sitting in a line on display!!

I think instead of going for a traditional sitting there should be some different sitting focusing couple and their natural bites in that moment which is a picture perfect idea and makes it look more beautiful.

That is why the sitting should be very unique and proper.

Why not go for a "C" shaped table? Then you can talk to all the bridal party and let everyone bask in your beauty!

We did a square table and had the two of us sitting on one side of the square and men down another side and women down the other. We kept one side clear so we could see the rest of the room as we looked around. We had a beautiful flower display and large candle holders with pillar candles and tea lights all over the place. The other tables just had the standard floral display and tea lights and were all round too :-)

HI Newtoboards, that sounds lovely, Did you place the table in the centre of the room or was it at the top of the room??

There were no tables behind my husband and I but there were tables around the other three sides. Just like others we were worried about having our backs to people so just made sure nobody was behind us.
