I'm not nearly experienced enough to think about it!

I got my Asics Warno yesterday. Look lovely, seem to fit and well made. Won't know how good they are just yet, but I am hoping to get the ok from the doc next week! Can't wait.

As regards doing stuff outside the law, they'll be covered in muck and stained a dark colour after the first match in the rain you play so I wouldn't worry about that.

Is there an elastic thingy on the tongue of them or is there velcro to hold it down?

The velcro, i generally tape up my boots anyway. find it adds a bit of support, and never open during the game.

I tried on Pumas before. Way too narrow. and its a shame, because everyone I know says they are the most coomfortable boot ever.
I bit the bullet and ordered a pair of those asics warno, they look really comfortable. I might also keep an eye out for a cheap pair of last seasons timarus - out of curiosity. There seems to be very few size 12's for sale in last season model. i am a cheapskate.
I am down training/coaching/playing matchs 5-6 days a week so its always good to have a few pairs of boots, so one pair is always dry.

On a side note. I'd recommend getting youself a pair of GoreTex runners for when you're coaching. They are a God send.

What reply did you get from Ben? ;)

Test drove the Asics Warnos tonight. Nothing to hectic, just a little bit tip, and a bit of running. so far so good. No pains on the balls of my feet even on the firm(ish) ground. comfortable & light. Hoping to go back full training with the seniors tomorrow evening so we'll see what they are like then.

I have a pair of goretex boots for coaching, but the sideline and pitchs do be so bad and mucky that you really need the stubs. Under 16's don't generally get the best pitchs!

Is it true that those addidas predator boots make sh1te players into good one? :D

    Good thread lads.

I usually pick up the first pair of boots I see in Elverys every August but I think i'll dust of the old credit card and invest in a good pair for the new season

I have a pair of Adidas Flanker boots and they are still going strong in their second season of use. There is barely a scuff on them yet. Very sturdy pair of boots.

I'm sure he's sick of quite a lot of people by now! I keep asking him about test jerseys.

Just had a look at them in elverys. ive got inserts in my shoes so wide boots are a must. Are the flanker boots comfy? what size are you?

49.99£ is decent enough on lovell for them

They are quite heavy though. The newer version is supposed to be lighter.

The Asics Lethal Warno on lovell are very very light for rugby boots. I like mine. Possibly lacking in protection in the forefoot though.

shame warnos are 79£ on lovell.

Just looking for something in an openside flanker shoe lol :p As my nike tiempo football boots are dire for rugby.

A lot of flankers seem to be wearing Nike CTR Maestri boots these days. I've heard they have a wide fit. Could be worth looking at.

No, In my opinion and a few other guys on the team the Flanker IV boots are awful uncomfortable. I had the extra wide pair, they weren't too wide so that would rule them out. My physio reckons mizuno are the best if you need to put in orthodics.

Been wearing my Asics Warno now for a few months. Without a shadow of a doubt the most comfortable boot ever. 2 of the lads have since bought them and agree that they are the most comfy boot, and very light as well. Pity about them been white though.

Haven't read the previous threads but I picked up a pair of Ascis Letheal scrum in pre-season and they are easily the most comfortable boot I've ever worn.

I loaned them to a guy one night and he went out and bought a pair the next day.

FYI, for those people who are interested, there is a guy in champions sports in Liffey Valley who has a stall set up for embroidering names etc onto boots, jerseys etc.

Costs €20.. which is much more expensive then getting it done when you buy your boots on-line @ lovell etc but still not too bad (sorry If this was mentioned already).

Lovell were offering free embroidery, they might still be.

White is fine if you're not giving away penalties and playing a stormer every match! ;)

I have them too, only worn them once though. Good impression so far.

really like the sound of the warnos but they're too dear for my pocket. you get what you pay for though so i was worried about the adidas flankers at £49.99

ill have a search for the warnos online unless elverys have them i cant really try them with the insoles though which is risky.

Edit: Ive found Asics Scrums for 49.99 they seem to be pretty similar to warnos

The Lethal Charge are the similar model, very light i saw them in Elverys in Suffolk Street. The Warnos have softer leather i'm told.

The Warnos are a Lovell exclusive, imported from OZ.

The flankers are good boots. I wouldn't say otherwise but i really like the warnos and i have both.

The Flanker boots are very comfy, and good at protecting toes, even thought they are not hard toe boots. I don't find them heavy at all, but then Im about 15st, so wouldnt notice it.
Would definitely recommend them. Im an 11.5 in rugby boots.
I doubt you will get much better than £50 for those boots, as they are quite expensive...

They are cheaper as there is a new model released.

I have the old flankers in size 10. They were slightly too big for me and quite heavy. I since have new orthotics and i haven't given them a proper try with them.

I used the Asics Lethal Warno once and i really liked them. Very light, not much protection to speak of for your forefoot.
