    Hi all,

Thinking of getting an interior detailing of my car. Has anyone used detailer.ie.
Is there a noticeable difference between a valet and a detailing bar the price?

    All opinions welcome.

    Thanks,

    G.

I would consider myself fairly clued in on the detailing scene.

There is very little difference between what a good valet and a detailer will do to your interior.

Where a detailer really shines is on the outside of the car.

It is worth getting a detailer but much more so for exterior (paint correction) rather than interior work. If you have a leather interior then a detailer is worth the extra few euro. The average valetor tends to use far inferior products on leather, or glossy dressings on plastics (looks awful).

To be honest i wouldn't waste my money on either. Get yourself a bottle of Autoglym Interior Shampoo, a few microfibre cloths & get scrubing. Use the AG & a well wrung mirco on the headlining, doors, the dash, & i'd even suggest taking a toothpick to crevices & you be surprise how much crap comes out. Hoover as much as possible, then take the AG & a soft bristle brush to the carpets & mats, wipe clean with micro. One afternoon & a tenner's worth of stuff.

& i see someone mentioned the gloss finished that valets do. AG & damp cloth does the job.

Also if you get the car clean enough you wont need air fresheners or anything cos there wont be anything to cover up. I oftne wondering do valets just try & make the car smell 'clean' rather than actually really clean it.

I'd guess a clean and polish but not paint correction.

detailers tend to spend a day or two on a car, some take the wheels off and clean the inside of them etc, valetours tend to do what people are too lazy to do.
