    SSN understands.....

    What a fcuking joke

As a Newcastle fan I am raging. What more could the lad have done? He rescued the club from oblivion and with meager resources he walked the championship and we are, for a promoted club, doing OK.

Ludicrous. Sad day for toon fans

    Absolute disgrace

If true thats a complete joke unless there is more to it than just his managerial performance. Hughton should come out of this very well though and shouldent have to wait too long for work if he is seeking it.

Did a very good job during his time at Newcastle and with far less investment in the squad than a Newcastle manager would usually get

Bloody disgrace who the f**k do Newcastle think they are - 11th in the league and only a newly promoted side

Newcastle United Football Club have today parted company with manager Chris Hughton. Goalkeeping coach Paul Barron also leaves the club today.
The board would like to place on record their thanks to Chris for his considerable efforts during the club's transition from Championship to Premier League football. Chris has shown exceptional character and commitment since being appointed manager in October 2009. The club wishes him well for the future.

Regrettably the board now feels that an individual with more managerial experience is needed to take the club forward.
The task of appointing a new manager now begins. An announcement will be made shortly regarding transitional arrangements pending the appointment of a successor.

Wow, a huge mistake for Newcastle. Finally the club was looking stable and Ashley does this.

    What a joke.

    What a joke.

Mike Ashley you are a silly silly man,you deserve to get relegated for this shafting of Hughton.

Joke of a decision, but just the latest in a long line under Ashley.

And to think it looked like he was keeping his head down.

    Silly stuff.

    Frank Rijkaard?

This is absolutely the stupidest decision yet taken by Ashley.

Well it just copper fastens what I always thought.

Newcastle are a joke of a club.

They think they are a big club and need a big manager.

    What they need is stability

I doubt he would go there but I'd assume Ashley has someone high profile lined up to immediately replace Hughton.
    Perhaps Joe Kinnear

Mike Ashley you are a silly silly man,you deserve to get relegated for this shafting of Hughton.

Couldn't agree more. He did the same to Sam Allardyce and they were relegated. Newcastle are a club I like but I hope they go down after this to give Ashley his just desserts.

They can have Roy Hodgson if they want. Silly decision for a club in Newcastles position.

Allardyce sacking was not the reason we went down. Keegan sacking was far more pivotal, but thats an argument for another day

Newcastle are a fine club, it's Ashely who is the joke, man is toxic for Newcastle and I have genuine sympathy for Newcastle fans having to put up with that clown.

Chris Hughton is a pure gentleman and deserved more respect after the excellent job he has done in his time there.

idiots at NUFC. They'll probably get Shearer backm and he can say he kept them up after all

A young, progressive manager learning his trade but in doing so is exceeding all expectations and steadying a historically very shakey club... So you sack him.

    The mind absolutely boggles.

    I'm speechless.

    Bye bye premiership.

Madness. He was doing a fine job.

He shouldn't be waiting too long for another job anyway. He's a like able guy and has shown what he's capable of.

Mike Ashley, you are a tool.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,445 ✭✭✭frostie500

That is without doubt the worst decision the club could have made. Did they expect to be challenging for Europe or something? The fact that he lasted 18 months and was the longest tenured manager since Robson says all that is wrong with that club

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Look how the likes of Barton and Nolan have played this season. The guy has revitalised the side completely. OK recently we have been dodgy, but we have key players injured and suspended. Which promoted side does not have a wobble. Think there may be more to this....

I would imagine that Chris will walk into a job elsewhere, i genuinely hope the lad does!

Comic. Most other clubs would have looked at what Hughton did since taking over and would have backed him with a contract extension and a few quid to spend.

  • Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 23,241 Mod ✭✭✭✭GLaDOS

Idiots, deserve to go down for the decision tbh. Hopefully Hughton gets a decent job somewhere else.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

I honestly thought as much would happen sooner or later,

What a horrible decision for the man, was his hour in the dressing room yesterday a goodbye to the players now more than anything else.

The man took over a wreck of a club, ok he needed a job, but he has remarkable success since he took the job.

It is by no means an easy feat to win the Championship, given the way Newcastle went down, the turmoil in the club many would have expected the rebuilding of the club to take place outside of the Premiership.

Hughton got them back up first go, and they have performed well this season, ok they have had as many bad performances as they have had good ones, but they have a very real chance of staying up.

Managers really do get a raw deal thses days by some clubs, Ashley must have someone lined up already - it would be very foolish to start looking for someone now on a kneejerk reaction - i know many think he is foolish, but we'll have to wait and see.

Wow! I cant even begin to understand why, Newcastle looking like a great addition to the Prem all year, here's hopiing they don't suffer for it!

The fans have been putting up with this kind of crap for as long as i can remember. No doubt we'll hire another Gullit/Souness/Kinnear

Well the club statement rules out Shearer, good news

Rafa could be sacked before Christmas (or sooner if they lose this week) and he could be in for the Newcastle job. Dont think he likes Italy much and Inter dont like him

Stupid sacking. Would have through they would have got at least another 20 points for the rest of the season and safely stay up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,977 ✭✭✭Soby

Idiots!.Feel sorry for Chris.Hopefully he can get a another premiership job.He wont be the last Premiership manager to lose his job.Be surprised if someone else does not lose theirs by Xmas tbh

Would have liked to see Newcastle do well this season under Hughton (or keep doing well!) , couldnt care less if they get relegated again now!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Who the hell is going to take the job? Cant see any manager worth their salt working under the conditions imposed by Mike Ashley....

Then again 5 year contract for 1 years work happy days!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,560 ✭✭✭✭dsmythy

Probably somebody already lined up to replace him. To be a promoted club in 11th and the manager to be sacked is bonehead stuff otherwise.

Hope he gets another PL job.

While I am gutted for Chris, I fail to feel any kind of surprise. Nothing is beyond imagining at that club.

I would think that Ashley sees it that Hughton has stabilised the club and that now he can go out and lure a 'big name' manager.

    MON anyone?

    Looking back on the results.
    Hammered Villa 6-0
    Sunderland 5-1
Knocked ourselves out of the Carling Cup
Beat Arsenal and then drew with us.
    And he looses his job?
    :confused::confused:
