Is Joe Higgins physically incapable of smiling?

I was listeing to Joe Higgins on the wireless today, and just realised that I had never, ever caught a glimpse of his pearly whites framed in a smile. I probably disagree with everything he stands for politically, but I still respect him, and admire him for his integrity. But he's so earnest he comes across almost as dour. So, the quesion is: Has anyone ever seen Uncle Joe smile, or heard him laugh? Even better, does anyone have photographic evidence of this rare occurence?

Smiling is a pastime of the bourgeoisie.

    He's smiling here.
Probably laughing that he got away with it.

A horribly forced, kinda scary smile doesn't count! It looks like his jaw is going to seize up with the effort!

    It's not just Joe Higgins.

It's everyone who is solidly left wing. Jack O'Connor, Eamon Gilmore, Pat Rabbitte, and so on.

Ok they smile the very odd time, but it's usually a forced smile.

It's like no-one will take you seriously on the left if you smile.

The only politician who really smiles is Bertie and Berite, and we all know why that is.

Smiling doesn't put food in the mouths of children or provide a wage for the average working man so it's strictly against Joe's personal values, much like being in any way useful.

Agreed. He'd be more more popular and well regarded if he smiled more often.

Come on Joe give us a smile.

What's there to smile about, the working class are still being oppressed by their capitalist overlords :(

He'll start smiling when workers rise up and take control of their destiny

Is this what you'll be basing your vote on.

Is that why people elected Leo Varadkar in his place?

This looks like a photo he actually posed for. Bit mona lisa-eske, is he smiling or is he not. Auld joe doesn't go for the smiles by the looks of it.

I personally hate when people ask you to smile for a photo because I can't just smile spontaneously. Theres hardly a photo of me smiling where I knew the photo was being taken.
