Mine is working fine, maybe remove iTunes then re-install it?

Same again its working fine on mine, maybe try a video player like this

You can have as many camera rolls as you want, you just have to simply do it in itunes under pictures when you sync it. You create a new folder, add the pictures you want and then have your iphone sync with that specific folder. Whenever you want new pictures, add to this folder or create another folder then repeat and sync.

think im gonna scream it's now saying

Couldn't open "Install iTunes.pkg". This package type requires Mac OS X 10.5.

What version of OS X do you have? The iPhone 4 requires 10.5.8. That's why it won't sync.

I'm even sure how you managed to get iTunes 10.2.1 on there as it requires 10.5 as well.

no, just a mac (a very old mac)

You need a 10.5 install disc to upgrade. You can't just install a combo update from Apple if (as I suspect) that's what you are downloading. 10.5, etc isn't showing up in Software Update because you need to buy it.

So assuming your Mac isn't that old and supports it, you will need get a copy of Leopard.

It's a most likely a combo update or something. You need 10.5 first, which you don't have.

Not really. You are running system software that is over 3 years old. The current version of Mac OS X is 10.6.6, which, if your Mac is as old as you say, you wouldn't be able to install anyway.

You've just got an old machine which you never updated. What processor does it have? (Have a look in About This Mac.)

In any case, Apple actually don't sell Leopard (10.5) anymore. So you'd probably have to borrow or buy a second hand copy from Ebay. I'd imagine you'd get it pretty cheap.

    Processor is 1.9GHx PowerPC G5

    Yeah, it's a G5, so 10.5 (Leopard) will work, but 10.6 (Snow Leopard) won't.

You'll either need to get 10.5, or sync it with a different machine.

so i need to get 10.5 not 10.5.8, is it downloadable free or is this the disk (CD?DVD) that you mentioned earlier?

You will need 10.5 first. It's a major upgrade and comes on a disc. Once it is installed, you can use Software Update to get up to 10.5.8.

yup not like any other computer company or any other company in fact need to make money. just release their best product now, let everyone buy it and sit back in their chairs and make money. simples. going patent this now so i'll become a billionaire.

it's not really, you're singling out apple like they are the only company that do this. every company have to do this as otherwise they'll go out of business.

it's this kind of stuff especially in tech journalism that irks me.

    e.g.

"iphone alarm clock bug" - there was uproar.
"android bug which sent your text messages to a random contact" - nothing said about it in the media.
"apple release a new product every year" - greedy bastards.
"htc/nokia release a new product every 6/12 months" nothing said.
