These are songs he's done for the debut film from richard ayoade.

i think they keep the fans who hate the direction the Arctic monkeys have gone in since Humbug.

Crappest thing about this film - the soundtrack imo. Hated every over pronounced and enunciated syllable of it.

    That's a bit harsh.

And you say crappiest thing like there were other crap things about it. But there weren't - 'twas a delightful little piece of filmmaking so it was.

I wasn't mad for the soundtrack but I didn't feel it detracted from the fillum.

Nope not in the slightest actually. I just think this soundtrack didn't suit the film very well. It was liketrying to shoehorn in one more cool thing when therealready were enough there. Nothing to do with who is singing it. That said the new song from the AM is crap. No two ways about it.

Ya i should have been clearer, great movie alright, soundtrack just didn't do it for me.

that 1st song is gorgeous, very impressed. can't listen to the other 2 as they've been commandeered by the internet police.

lordgoat , you really do know how to lose the run of yourself. you go from saying this

"Crappest thing about this film - the soundtrack imo. Hated every over pronounced and enunciated syllable of it. "

    to this

"I just think this soundtrack didn't suit the film very well. It was liketrying to shoehorn in one more cool thing when therealready were enough there."

    that's quite a difference!

The first song, Piledriver Waltz, has been named on the tracklist for Arctic's new album 'Suck It and See'

No, it's quite easy, come on and i'll walk you through it.

I hated every single song on this soundtrack as 1) i didn't like that style of music in these circumstances. I felt it 2) detracted from the film, it was something else that was clamouring for attention in an already packed screen. So 3) Had i heard the songs independantly of the film i may have just thought them nothing really special but due to the context they just pissed me off.

    Reconciled?

no. not really. but thanks for the explaination.

you said you hated the songs ("every over pronounced and enunciated syllable"). context wasn't brought into it until you were pushed by Jeff Lebowski.

the songs were posted here independently. either you hate the songs or you don't.

He said it was the crappest thing about the movie which would imply he was talking about the songs in the context of the overall movie would it not?

Here's my first post. Please note the bit in bold.

This bit in bold is plain wrong.

So either you can accept what i've said, my first two posts were before anything you've contributed to the thread, which by the way, apart from some obsession with my posts is negligible.

Also in relation to you last line - "he songs were posted here independently".
What's the name of the thread? Does is mention a film or a soundtrack?

Anything else you need explanations for?

Saw the film today and didn't like the soundtrack. It wasn't the music as such, it was the lyrics. There were some really nice moments where the music was great at first - like the 'relationship' montage near the start - but then Turner's voice kicked in and it felt very distracting indeed. It kind of annoyed me because I thought it would have been genuinely emotionally affecting without lyrics.

If you've a problem with certain posts then by all means report them but please don't post on a thread just to say that it's irritating.

It doesn't contribute anything and is just liable to pull the thread off-topic.

    Thanks.

I have to say the soundtrack alone hasn't been off the cd player for a good week. I love it. Its another side to Alex turners bow that shows when he hits the later part of his career a Richard Hawley type of album would be brillant.
