    Hi folks,

New tenants just moved into a house I'm renting and they aren't happy with the kitchen extractor fan. House is 12 years old so its an old type extractor fan that basically just is a fan.

It is working but just sin't very powerful. I'm just wondering how would I go about replacing this? Is it hard to do? Would an electrician do it or what trade?

Some are easy to replace some are not so easy. As to who would change it, if there is a wooden panel on it, and it is plugged into the wall via a socket get a kitchen fitter. Generally I would say a kitchen fitter is who you need to do it. The only problem you might run into is when it has been wired up incorrectly, like off the lights. Then you will need an electrician to put it right. You might also need and electrician if it has been wired using a fused spur. Before you go spending on it though check the size of the hole on the wall outside. Some can be tiny. Also check that it goes straight through the wall. If there is a lot of distance and turns between your extractor and the exit point outside, coupled with a small hole diameter, this could be your problem. Hole size should be min 100mm and 125mm is better still.

Looks like an integrated hood. You need a kitchen fitter
