How the hell can you describe him as a hero?

Thread title is ..................Is he going to take on the IDF with explosive rugby balls and assist the PLO?
Well doubt if you'd get one of the macho boys of the IDF with their alleged super Krav Maga combat skills  would go one to one in fisticuffs with a former rugby international.

I love Boards, it allows idiotic posts like yours above.

Do you really think an Israeli soldier would be afraid of a rugby player? I presume you are not trained in KM otherwise you wouldnt post it.

Far enough, he's a fit lad and not averse to a physical beating. But I doubt he is trained to kill. Israeli's dont take any ****...if the KM fails the bullets wont.

Now go away and troll somewhere where you have a bit of experience.

Have you seen most Israeli soldiers? The majority look like nerdy, awkward teenagers who are scared ****less. Its no wonder they shoot everything in sight. Obviously their special forces and most of their experienced full time soldiers aren't like that but the average soldier definitely is. Oh and as for Krava Maga, well all the rugby player would have to do is tackle him to the ground and his Krava Maga is useless

I hope he doesn't expect assistance from us when he gets himself into trouble over there. That flotilla crowd is a bunch of lefty ideologues mixed in with muslim extremists.

Well that's certainly not a stereotypical generalisation if ever I've seen one.

.....but will his Krav yokey get him a nice job in the bank and into the Golf club? I think not.

What's all this talk about krag Maga? Surely everyone realises the IDF generally opens up when you get within stone throwing range.

I would actually ask that question back to you, have you seen most Israeli soldiers? I somehow doubt you have.

Anyway, their record as fighting troops over the last few decades speaks for itself, Yom Kippur War, Six day war etc. So I probably wouldn't write off one of the most resolute and battle hardened defence forces in the world who have fought many times for their survival as a nation as "awkward teenagers".

Here we go again, yet another 'Israeli thread ' in AH.

Give it a frikken rest for Chrissakes.

As to the actual topic, what do I think?

    Absolute idiot.

From the Self Defence & Martial Arts forum.

Lets not make this thread about which martial art is more effective. I am not the one who introduced KM to this discussion.

My point is simple...Rugby player Vs Israeli soldier = Hero rugby player loses.

Rugby, meh - I'll raise you a game of pool :pac:

Now a pool player, with a sock against an Israeli soldier - wad'ya say pal?.

So when he needs repatriation who will have to pay the costs? Me? Really?

He's not a hero, he's a very silly boy. I hope no ill comes to him, but likewise hope the taxpayer is not called upon to bail him out if his well intentioned but deluded crusade goes tits up.

OP, you have been asked a couple of times to support your claim the blockade is illegal. Can you do that, or not? If not I strongly suggest you amend your first post to reflect the fact that your hero has no legal grounds for his protest.

Saw that movie on video, then saw it a few years later on CH4. They shortened the rape scene a bit, but the bit that was censored was actually the guard ignoring the lad getting suicidal during the night, which, when you think about it, was a very dubious decision indeed.

Israel is not a theocratic state? A state founded on what religion you are.

Israel actually has a strong and vocal secular community, in fact almost of half of Israelis consider themselves secularists; something that would not be tolerated in the theocratic state you suggest it is.

I'm not arguing the topic at hand I just think that was a misinformed comment.

Israel doesn't have secular marriage btw, so there not a secular state either. They also grant citizenship based on race/religion, which again shows that it isn't secular either.

It is illegal under the 4th Geneva Convention, which prohibits collective punishment. Since Israel has blocked legitimate sources of food, medical supplies and building materials - it affects a collective population, and therefore breaches the 4th Geneva Convention. It's quite simple. The blockade is illegal.

I'm well aware it has the legal structure of a theocracy, but it isn't run as one nor does it have the population of one.

I never claimed it was a theocracy, just that the state is not secular. I should have been clearer.

According to the Israelis, they ship food into Gaza 6 days a week.

Surely the Israelis are not outright lying?

They have blocked many sources of food into Gaza. They allow basic foods into Gaza, but they block anything considered a 'luxury item'. That can be something as simple as a can of soda, to a bar of chocolate. They had banned macaroni.. Who bans Macaroni? They have also blocked musical instruments, house building materials (despite the fact that Israel has destroyed the Gazan infrastructure), and many other items.

Now if they just banned weapons, knives etc.. People might be a little more understanding - But to block what they deem to be 'luxury items', definitely places the blockade under the title of 'collective punishment', and therefore it breaches the 4th Geneva Convention.
