Is your Granny or Mom a security risk on FB?

The MOD in the UK produced this vid which seems to be aimed at the elderly that use social networks. Could the same be happening in Ireland with lovely young men recruiting your granny or mom to join radical groups or supply information about family relatives that work in sensitive areas?

To answer your question, nein, my granny and Mum are dead so I think they're not involved in militant actions.

My Dad however, is 79 and uses facebook. But I have him screened from reading all of my stuff and I never look to his, so they'll be getting no info outta me =D

It is a novel way of launching an attack though, hadn't considered it before but seems quite obvious now I've thought about it. Makes an awful lot of sense

Didn't some MI6/MI5(?) high-up's wife give out their address on FB or something?

You should have to pass an IQ test to be given a computer.

    My Mom thinks I'm cool.

Everyone else, not so much...Nobody wants to be friends with an Islamic Fundamentalist. : C

Well I think soldiers or members of the security services would wanna be pretty dumb to be saying anything operational outside of work regardless.

"Loose lips sink ships" - and all that.

I think sensitive information is far more likely to be given out by your niece or nephew or mates - not your granny.

The older generations generally have a concept of privacy, and don't feel the need to let everyone know what colour knickers they're wearing, what they had for breakfast, and what their current relationship status is.

Facebook is a security risk all in itself.

All my grandparents were dead by 1997. If they manage to post on FB now..it'd be some trick

Have you done a security background check on your mother yet? Followed her to the shops?
