    Hi,
Does anyone know if these guys stock Giant? If so, do they have a good selection of road bikes?

I've heard there a good store but there website doesn't really have any info on the bikes they stock.

I'd like to try out the Defy range and some of the lower end TCR's aswell - good fitting is very important aswell.

I've found Kearneys aren't particularly good for road bikes in Galway (not much range and they don't fit you properly) and Nigels doesn't stock Giant.

I don't know if they have any defy's (2010 stock are supposed to be pretty thin on the ground these days where-ever you go) but they do stock Giant (the mammy has a Giant SCR 1.5 from there), so if they don't have what you're looking for they'd probably be able to order it in.
They've a pretty good selection of road bikes (I bought myself a time edge racer in there second-hand two months back and I'm very happy) by west of Ireland standards and while I haven't found them particularly good for finding you the right fit (seems to be something most small shops down the country don't have much interest in) they have an excellent mechanic and unlike Nigel's (who's mechanics can't even replace a saddle competently if my personal experience is anything to go by) you will get friendly and knowledgable after sales service if anything goes wrong.
I'd say give them a call and see what they have in terms of giant and even if they don't have exactly what you're looking for they're probably worth a look.

Thanks for that info. They do sound like a fair shop but a proper fit is something which is very important to me.

Marrey's in Ballinrobe stock Giant. Google for their website. Do have a good stock of bikes generally

Well you could always go somewhere else for some fit advice and then buy your actual bike at O'Neils or wherever.

Aye, good fitting is very important to avoid sore knees, neck, back and hips. Had all of these problems with previous bikes, both road and hybrid. Have a proper fit now and can cycle 100's of km's a week, with no problems.

Unfortunately a lot of shops are very lax and just encourage you to buy whatever they have in stock rather than bother to order you in what you want, need. It's because they may not be able to acquire your size for several weeks or simply want to get rid of the stock they have. It' lousy, but there ya go.

Best thing to do is bring someone who has a good knowledge of such things, failing that - online research helps. I found this helpful:

Yep they sure do and a great service too.

I got my Giant there and the after sales has been great, every time I have a problem I just drop in and they fix it there and then with a story or two thrown in. Have to say the same for Marrey too.

Good to shop local, both shops support the local tri-club.

O'neills may be good if you're out in Tuam, I think the boys in Woodquay there are pretty good if you're in town though.

I rather like their aftersales service too. Feels more like going in for a bit of a chin wag with a friend than it does going in for a bit of a wheel tension or a gear adjustment, which only takes them seconds...........
