    Hi there,

Going to Spain at the end of the month and going to hire a car, just wondering do I need an international driving license or will my Irish one do, I've had it for around 3 years or so.

Any advice is appreciated and sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

    Cheers,
    Tom

As long as its a full license then you will be fine. No need for an int one.

Just show it to the rental desk and away you go!

Perfect! I rang them up and they said I didn't need one and when I went to book it on their website it said I did. Oh well ^^

Thanks for the advice flikflak :)

I called my insurance company (via 123.IE) and asked about the need for a green card as I intend to drive to and remain in Spain for about 6 months. The lady said that there was no need for a green card, but I would require a bailbond. When I suggested that I should receive 90 days free cover under the EU directive 1992, she said 'no', 30 days was all that I was getting!

Can anyone tell me roughly how much I would expect to pay for a bailbond?

    Thanks!

Moving this to Motors from Travel, it's more a licensing query (hijacked by an insurance one!)

I'm fairly sure they have to give you the minimum cover to be legally allowed to drive for 90 days, they are probably referring to your current level of cover only being given for 30 days.
