Sorry if this has been discussed before but it was news to me. At mass today it was announced that the PP was retiring and that a new priest would be coming to to the parish to replace the PP, but not as PP but as an Administrator . what next the Sacrastin is the PA, and the alter boys are the customer services officers, what then are we reffered to the target shoppers?

Have you considered ther might be one parish priest for say every three or four parishes in the future?
If you want to, why not get involved in your parish and remove all the weight of all the other work from the clergy then they will have more time to say Mass and hear confession.
How do you expect your parish to run without people to administer to it?
Should the clergy be doing all the school management boards and community groups?
Who should be doing the pastoral work?
this is all for your parish to decide.

There are plans for when the rate drops to say one actual priest for every three parishes.
I suggest you ask around and get involved. Of course you can just stand back and let others get on with the job if you wish.

I totally agree. Most Priests are overworked with non-clerical work, and don't have enough free time for pastoral duties. They prepare children for Holy Communion/Confirmation, as well conduct funerals, weddings, visit the old and the sick, and hospitals. Our Parish Priest runs two Rural Parishes and has to drive several miles between the two of them on Sundays.

It seems your issue is with the use of the word 'administrator'.. administrators at all levels within the Catholic Church have existed for quite a while. Nothing new there.
