    Hi
I have the same model and I am having simmiler trouble, the fridge side is iceing up on the back wall and the freezer is not reaching its set point at -18, I rang waterford stanley who are the agents for rangemaster in Ireland and they sent out a repair guy who did'nt no much about it. He rang rangemaster in the uk and explained the problem and the said it needed to be re-gased, Their repair man can not carry out this job so I had to look up a local guy who does this. he is calling to me on monday so I will let you know the out come.

My Fridge is also 4 years old, I had another one before this one and it gave notting but trouble, It was under warrenty so it was replaced. now this one is giving trouble, a bit of a disaster. I've been told by a service engineer that most of these gave trouble, If i was back again I would not have bought it. But I will see what Monday brings and I will post the details.

I got the fridge Re-gased still the same problem, so that was a waste of money, I rang the service guy again today and told him so he is going to get some circuit board and try that. did you do anything about your one?

rung a service man, and he told me over the phone it was freezer sensor and fan ,and it would cost around 350 euros.so i thinking of throwing it out and buy a new one, hopefully.

not being cheeky ,i hope, but how much did he charge you.and was he not aware that what he was doing wasnt going to rectify the problem?

I feel like throwing it out as well, but for the price they cost they should last more than four years. There is clearly a fault with a lot of this model, and as customers, rangemaster should repair or replace theese.

Well the rangemaster guy did not charge me anything but I payed the guy that put in the gas €120. but he was only going on rangemaster information.

if you ring rangemaster and ask to be put thru to thier technical dept/manager -ask them how to put the unit into diagnostic mode , and a code should come up to identify the problem

I haven't worked on rangemaster ( built by ge ) so don't know it myself , but the samsung lg and german brands have simple diagnostics ( press two buttons)

rangemaster prob don't have dedicated service engineers in Ireland and rely on independent engineers with very little product knowledge .

Rangemaster service guy came back again. and he said it could not be repaired.

    Hi 1969timmyg and all.

I feel your frustration. We have just gone through the same saga literally at the time as you. We have had the service guy out (who was not all that knowledgeable). He replaced the circuit board and more or less said if that's not it then its the gas and if that's the problem we might as well throw it out. We bought the fridge in February 2007 and it handed in its notice about a month and a half ago.

I am wondering have you contacted range master to vent your frustration having paid so much money for a fridge that is supposed to be a superior brand. Four years for the lifetime of a fridge is an absolute joke.

I contacted consumer rights and they told me i would have a case if i took it to the small claims court, and they told me to go back to the shop where i bought it so i did and i think they are going to do something for me.so i suggest you do the same, you have rights.

Hi-I bought my one in 2007 and freezer starting to give problems as well. temp up and down from -18 to -5. Dont suppose you ever managed to get the problem sorted out?

I'm afraid you won't be getting an answer there as the OP has closed their account. If anyone else has had this experience, please share....

    Hi,
just wanted to give a follow up to my problem. As well as the freezer temperature varying as described previously my electricity bill was also going through the roof as the compressor was constantly running.

Contacted a few electricians who said it sounded like a temperature sensor or motor problem - off the back of this I bought a few genuine sensors and a replacement motor for the freezer fan/condensor fan and installed them but no difference.

Finally got in touch with an electrician who used to work with Rangemaster as a Service Engineer. His first reaction when told him the model and the year I bought it was I might be better to throw it out - apparently the build for all these models were outsourced to China and basically what they built was junk. He swung by anyway and went through the motions, replaced another sensor and basically said it that didn't fix the problem I'd be better off just throwing in the towel (it didn't and I now have a new fridge).

If anyone else is experiencing same problem, take my advice. Rather than trying to rescue your (considerable) investment and wasting another few hundred quid just curse Rangemaster, make sure any forum you post on knows their products are dirt and dump it. Its what I should have done months back but hard to stomach it!

OMG I just bought a two year old Rangemaster sxs 663 because I can't afford new. Now I'm petrified at all the comments. Will mine be going to the dump as well? Only plugged it in this evening. 😭
