Seriously though, I have about 100 euro in the bank. I have to put a deposit on an apartment next week. This may be a problem.

Genuinely have no idea what's in my current account. I haven't checked my balance all Summer. Incredibly irresponsible yes, I'm not sure why I hate to check the balance, perhaps it's guilt.

I'm not loaded or anything, btw, I just hate to register how I spend money.

Don't know I'm scared to check, I'll just keep spending until the ATM tells me otherwise.

    About 12.5k at the mo'.

Going to build up another couple of grand of s safety net and then stick 10k in some kind of savings thing with the best rate.

The rinse, repeat with more capital added in about a year and so on until Mr. Mortgage is rapidly killed.

My brother and his house mate are both 26, owe 3 months rent and havent paid one bill since they moved into the house in november.. and in the 3rd week of every month he has to borrow money off me until he gets his wages the following week... doesn't seem to bother them too much!

    Be Happy!!!

    €12.5k on current a/c?

There are higher yielding easy access savings a/cs with no walkaway penalties that you can rest that in while you're waiting to save the extra €10k

Yeah, i know it's a tad silly leaving it there "doing nothing" but it'll be getting moved fairly soon.

About €10 right now. No debt though. But need to put down a deposit on a house soon. Bad times :(

Same as yourself OP. Late twenties, living at home, unemployed with around 2k in bank. I've worked since I was 16 and its so utterly depressing that I have so little to show for it. I swear the next steady wage that comes my way wont be squandered. I might be broke, depressed and on the verge of a mental breakdown but by god I'll be a better man for it when I get out the other end.......If I get out the other end :(
