Red composite door to match door frame?

    Hi,
I have specified a red uPVC composite front door and red frame for my house. A windows supplier/manufacturer tells me that I can't have the frame in the same shade of red to match-in with the door and has tried to persuade me to go for a cream frame, which i don't want. I don't believe this and never thought there would be an issue with getting a red door and red frame!

Can anyone tell me if there is any problem or difficulty in sourcing what I am asking? Or maybe someone else already has a composite red door & frame? I would have thought this would be quite a common request!

I suspect that they don't want to give me the red frame because it might mean altering their production line in terms of frame colour.

    any help appreciated

I have seen and used plenty of same colour uPVC doors and frames, red, blue, green, etc.,

I'm sure you can find more than one door supplier.

For anyone else that has run into a similar scenario, I have checked it out and red door to match red frame in composite is readily available. ;)

My own experience is that the colour is almost impossible to match perfectly between the door panels and the frame & surround.

We rejected the first door and the replacement was only marginally better.

The structure uses extruded and coated plastic that has a gloss finish, the door panels use pressed & moulded coloured plastic, this has a matt finish.

Putting a clear varnish may have resolved the issue, but we were not willing to rish the warrenty on the door.

Sorry to hijack this thread but would anyone know is it possible to change the door colour and leave the frame as is. I.E I have a white PVC frame and door and want to just change the door.

You can buy special PVC paint if that's what you want or you should be able to get a replacement door made to fit without difficulty, even easier if you can go back to the original manufacturer.

    Start here

    http://www.apeer.uk.com/choice/door_designs/

This Co, are the biggest suppliers of composite doors, then having chosen a door, contact your local window /door Co for a quote.

A plain door in say red, fitted should come in around a grand, design glass, bevels etc, will add to cost.

Composite doors are more expensive than standard PVC but better value.

I have no connection with Apeer, but I have used their product many times.
