If customs find a counterfeit item, they will always seize and destroy it. Buying counterfeit goods is illegal.

Get down off your high horse there for a minute. You never asked if you would get a refund, you asked if anyone else had the same problem. To answer that question I've pointed out that anyone that buys counterfeit products is liable to have them seized and destroyed.

If you bought from soccertriads.com, why would eBay get involved?

You didn't know it was fake? That's simply not believable. Jerseys cost in or around £50 for genuine. Soccertriads sell them for £17. It's quite obviously fake.

To get a refund you'd have to ask your bank to do a charge back. They're the only ones that can tell you whether this is possible or not. Before that, contact Soccertriads, tell them your order has been seized and see what they say.

they want a copy of the customs letter before they can do any more...but i have no way of copying it to send it

I have 3 jerseys that were bought from soccertriads.com, I have also bought several for my friends as well and they all got through customs fine. I'd say you were just unlucky.

Now I ordered 2 more and it was only dispatched a couple of days ago. One is for me and the other for a friend. After seeing this thread though, I'm a bit worried that I might not be so lucky this time . My friend probably won't pay me back unless he receives the jersey so if it gets seized by customs then there's no way I'm getting a penny from him. Here's hoping that doesn't happen though :(

Don't you have a scanner or take a picture of it even ?

Many office supply shops will offer a scan service, if you don't have a scanner. Failing that, a picture taken on any half decent camera, even phone camera, might be good enough.

Customs have limited resources, and can only search/inspect a small percentage of what comes in. It may only be 1 in a 100, or even 1 in 1000 that gets looked at, but someone gets caught every day.

There's a thread in the soccer forum mainly about soccertriads.

    Linky

Many people are having the same problems, customs are cracking down hard. Some people are getting refunds/jerseys resent, but they're meant to be a nightmare to deal with. Surely you can copy the letter somewhere!?

You buy counterfeit items, you run the risk. I'm not buying the "I didn't know" line either. Would you not do research on a company before handing over money? Hell, even Google them and look at the first page of results!?

Looks like I've been stung too

Genuinely bought a jersey as a birthday gift, thinking it was going to be real.

Wondered why it was taking so long to arrive (bought on July 29th), so emailed An Post, they emailed back saying it was in customs, and to ring them.

So I did, they said 99% of those are fake, and that they're sent to the relevant manafacturers, if found to be counterfeit, they are destroyed, and tough **** buyer.

I was told by customs to open up a dispute with the company.

I've emailed them asking about it, I'll post up what happens.

    Not impressed at all

They emailed me saying to "read the terms and conditions" when I asked for a refund. And also to email a copy of the customs letter. (I haven't gotten that yet, but it's in the post).

I told them not to send me another jersey as it'll be intercepted again by customs.

I've opened a paypal dispute with them, I'll post up how that goes.

    I fcuking hate scammers

in their terms and conditions it just really says they dont do refunds so just send them a copy of the letter you will get and state that you are lookin for an authentic replacement as thats what you have paid for in the first place.theres nothing really pay pal can do as there is no wrong doing on their behalf.but what ever you do just keep at them stating you want a replacement.ill keep ya posted

Selling counterfeit products is illegal, so Paypal should be able to issue a refund. If they don't, then get on to your bank and inquire about a charge back.

Checked a purchase from Soccertriads the other day, got tracking number and it was pulled for customs inspection. Not expecting delivery of it TBH.

I'll try and get a replacement and see what happens. I've always found Soccertriads to be fairly good at communicating when you have an issue.

    Just an update on this.

After lodging my paypal dispute, the other party had 10 days to respond to the dispute, which he didn't (even though he had 4 emails reminding him of it)

I didn't even need to upload ay more evidence (which turns out you can't do until they request it from you).

So Paypal found in my favour, and I've been credited with the full amount including postage.

    Result.

I opened a disupte as well 2 days ago. And I've been in constant communication with your man Kevin through e-mails. I asked him yesterday why he can't just refund me straight away and he replied with this today:

The problem is once you open a dispute with Paypal it has to be handled by our accounts via Paypal.
    Regards

He probably knows PayPal will also decide in my favour so I don't understand why he won't just give me the damn refund  He's just delaying the inevitable.......

    Hi Col200sx.

I have the same problem and it looks like my only way out is to go down the paypal route. Can you tell me how you went about this and what exactly did you tell them.I would like to get the same result, so be good to know exactly how you handled it.

    Thanks

As jor el said only a few can be processed, however if they are using distinct packaging it will make it easier for customs to single them out in the future, you see them on those TV programs looking at conveyor belts of post going past in other countries, I expect we would be similar.

Everything you need is already in that post you quoted. As Col200sx said, if the seller doesn't respond within 10 days then PayPal will refund you the full amount. You won't even have to say/do anything else. Just open a dispute for "Item not received", then escalate to a claim asap.

I've escalated mine to a claim 4 days ago and so far the seller hasn't responded. So it's looking like I'll be getting the refund come September 15th :)

Yep exactly as James said above, I've replied to your pm with a bit more detail of what I did.

But it's practically there in my post above. Good luck with the dispute :)

How long after the 10 days did PayPal credit you the full amount ? The deadline for the seller to respond was yesterday but he didn't, however there's no sign of the refund yet on my account.

It said to wait up to 5 working days for the money to clear.

However, it did within a couple of days, and it was re-credited to my credit card.

Would there be a way of bypassing customs by using ParcelMotel? Getting it delivered to the North.

It can be refused, from PM's site
What happens if there is VAT and/or Duty due on my item?

Please ensure that any charges payable are paid in advance of delivery. Parcel Motel will not accept responsibility for payment of any VAT or Duty charges due on items delivered. If the postal operator or courier asks for cash on delivery, your item will be refused by us.
