Does anyone have any experience with the NTC and Fas? The NTC website says that their courses are recognised by FAS and some students receive grants for part or all of their fee's. But a receptionist in my local FAS office said they only give grants for fetac courses, I dont think the NTC provide fetac courses.
(it was lunch hour in the fas office so nobody was around to help the receptionist)

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Tax payers money should not be used to fund a private company like the NTC.

    Fully agree on this tbh.

But hey, if there's a loophole in the system, may as well exploit it. I would if I could!

Apologies if I was unhelpful but I feel strongly about this but leaving my gripe aside...

Your experience and gym bunny's show what the answer is - i.e. it depends on the person you get when dealing with a public body.

You can get a helpful civil servant or you can get a beaten down not arsed individual. Maybe they had a sh1t day and don't want to help you.
I guarantee if you go back to different people in FAS, eventually you will get a response similar to gym bunny's.

The reason I asked if gym bunny got employment out of his course was because I know quite a few people who got an NCT course paid for as part of a FAS funded initiative some years ago. Of the people I know none are employed in a related job. Complete waste of money IMO.

    This, in a big way.

That being said, in defence of Chris, I think it's the sort of career that'd suit him considering his sport.

I never went to college so i'd like some sort of qualification, im a qualified swimming teacher so I reckon if i could get this or something similar it would look good on a CV.

Im only looking for part time work to support my current athletic endeavors
