    From another Forum...
The Grauniad has been offering a different John le Carré audiobook free each day for the past week. They are only available for a week from the day that the newspaper is printed, so last Saturday's download may no longer be available and Sunday's download will expire at midnight on Saturday evening. They are in MP3 format rather than the usual and tiresome Audible format.

Saturday - Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
    http://www.audiogo.co.uk/guardian-tinker-tailor
    Offer code = tinker1

Sunday - Our Kind of Traitor
    http://www.audiogo.co.uk/observer-our-traitor
    Offer code = traitor2

    Monday - The Honourable Schoolboy
    http://www.audiogo.co.uk/guardian-honourable-schoolboy
    Offer code = schoolboy3

    Tuesday - Smiley's people
    http://www.audiogo.co.uk/guardian-smileys-people
    Offer code = people4

    Wednesday - A Perfect Spy
    http://www.audiogo.co.uk/guardian-perfect-spy
    Offer code = perfect5

    Thursday - The Constant Gardener
    http://www.audiogo.co.uk/guardian-constant-gardener
    Offer code = gardener6

Friday - The Spy Who Came In From The Cold
    http://www.audiogo.co.uk/guardian-spy-cold
    Offer code = coldspy7

I could apply the discount but it never worked. THEN I figured out you had to have the billing address bit filled in :) They all still work by the way.

Thanks OP and Nate (Given :D). Good find and now I have a new audio book site to browse.

Though I must recommend to people that your local library has audio books on tap for free. From classics to the latest Touchwood and Doctor Who :)

[edit] and you can download audio books from the library at home, well you can from my Dublin one but they have a set life span of x days.

Do you have a link for this? How can I find out if other library's do this? I see US library's are now lending books on Kindle - anything like that in the pipeline for here? We use the local library a good bit to get audio books but a lot are on tape and we no longer have a tape deck at home to play them

This is a link to South Dublin Libraries but you will have to borrow from whichever Local Authority area you are in. You will also have to visit your local branch to get a PIN No.
The Download Zone will tell you what books are available to borrow, it is split into genres. You can borrow for 7,14 or 21 days but you are required to delete the file from whatever device you have, after that period.
It really is an excellent facility although new material has been in short supply in recent times.

(In the Dublin area at any rate ) this is not true. I'm a member of SDCC, DLRCoCo, Dublincity and Fingalcoco libraries. ( no false addresses or any fancy stuff )

DLRCoco and Fingalcoco offer various download options. Cant figure out Dublincity - its quite possible that they do too -

They must have changed their policy. I tried to join DLR Co. Co library only last year and was told I needed an address in the area or I could have a sponsor.
I honestly don't know why you can't join any Library, it's an outdated policy. Libraries AFAIK are funded by the taxpayer these days rather than the ratepayer.

Great bargain alert - my favourite author. I've got hard copies and digital copies of all his books so now I'll start an adiobook collection!

All still working at the monent btw.

bmaxi, I got told that last year too. They said you needed either to be working or living in the vicinity of one of those libraries to join.

Or maybe this is the present policy and I'm ( as usual ) behind the times?

( I got my various cards many years ago )
