    Hi,

Not sure if this is in the right forum, but seems like the best place to ask this question...

I am looking to get my childs passport delivered to me in the UK. I currently hold his passport, but its up for renewal. The form is with his mother in Ireland at the moment and I put down my UK address, but she is saying it needs to be posted to an Irish address? I'm not quite convinced though!

I'm posting here, as its a bit of a nightmare getting in contact with the PPO in Dublin! :|

    Any help much appreciated!

    Thanks,
    DG

If the application is made from Ireland the passport must be posted to an address in Ireland.

If you're in the non NI UK, ie ENgland, Scotland or Wales you would need to make the application through the consulate at Montpellier House in Knightsbridge (right opposite Harrods). The form is different from the one used in Ireland mostly in that a greater number of people can attest identity. If the child's usual place of residence is with its mother in Ireland, I suspect you'd have to go through the passport office in Dublin.

I have to get my UK Passport renewed by the Embassy here... its a damn sight quicker than getting one in the UK! I suspect the same would be true of getting an Irish one in England.

    Thanks guys.

I guess I will have to put some trust into his mother to hand the new one over when it arrives then! tut!
