Primary School Teacher Question

Hi guys, I am a primary school teacher and have been out of Mary I two years. I have been working in the same school for the past two years but am eager to get into another school. In the school I have been working in I would not have the oppertunity to do my dip and I really want to get it done this year. The principal rang me today to offer me another 2 months to cover the end of a maternity. I have been applying for jobs all summer and have had no luck. I'm wondering should would I be mad to turn down this maternity leave when I have nothing else lined up. Would it be wise for me to turn this job down and to just keep applying for jobs? I don't really understand how the panels work but the principal told me they should be clear soon. But even if they do clear I cant see schools wanting to give permanent jobs to a teacher who doesn't have their dip done or will that be the only choice they would have. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

If the school is a big one, you might be lucky to get further work there. However, if you will not get a chance to do your dip, it makes the choice harder. In today's climate, I think I would take the two months and keep an eye out for longer term work. Most principals would not begrudge you leaving for more work-and it's not that there'd be a shortage of people to take your place.
