Travel Insurance Claim Query

We booked to go skiing in September for the 30th December 2012. My husband broke his rib in November. So we were unable to fly on the 30th December.
We had an annual policy from Dec 2011 - Dec 2012 then purchased another policy with the same company Dec 12 - Dec 13. Which policy is accessed for the claim? the policy when the rib was broken or the policy when we were due to fly out?

It reads like the first policy (Dec. 2011 0 Dec 2012) should be used to make a claim. As the second policy purchased in December 2012 reads like it would be a recurring injury.

The delay in making a claim until after the missed date of departure of the trip will be to your detriment. Your family may need to explain why the delay.

The Insurers or Brokers should be able to advise you more accurately.

I presume he got a letter from Doctor/Hospital that stated that he was unable to fly? Without that I would say your claim would not be allowed. Did you notify insurers before the date of departure?
