Just was told told this in my station. They said they'll be back around 8.

This is the third morning since October this has happened and on each occasion there has been heavy rain the night before. Darts can't run when it rains apparently.

This has happened to me twice in the last week or so between Sutton and Howth Junction, I'm no train guru but I'd say the infrastructure of Irish Rail must be pretty pathetic for this to happen so frequently.

So you're saying it has only rained heavily three times since October last?

According to traffic reports this morning there was a tree blown on to the tracks.

A fallen tree at Dalkey has damaged the overhead power lines.

Bit difficult to operate with no power!

FYI Trains are running again between Bray and Dun Laoghaire as of 11.18, according to the irish Rail website.

Not at all. I am saying however, that the three mornings when there was no Dart, followed a night of heavy rain.

Cut them down so . Dublin bus trims trees , Dublin airport has measures in place to prevent bird strikes

They are down again this evening. Flooding in Sandycove.

As sure as night follows day, DARTs going off south of Dun Laoghaire follows heavy rain.

Bit hard to do when the trees are on private properties.

Are the owners responsible for the damage?

The flooding in Sandycove is the slab track heavy rain and high tide been happening for years.

Good question to which I don't know the answer.

Ye, but might claim it was an act of god.

Irish rail have hedgecutters out every now and then and would cut away anything that might pose a danger.

In fairness, the DART line hugs the coast line for the most part. It is always going to be impacted more by flooding & high tides due to its coastal location, than say the Dublin to Cork line will be. Not saying that getting stranded by line closures isn't a pain in the you know what, but some times Geography and good old Mother Nature are a pretty lethal combo for commuters.:o

Just wait till the greystones section falls into the sea, the bitching then! Given the lack of legally required beach nouishment because of the harbour dev the erosion rates have increased alarmingly

Heavy rain forecast for east coast for next few hours. Hope the DART stays running for the evening !
