Has anyone seen this ad on adverts.ie ?

    http://www.adverts.ie/coins-notes/2x-20p-irish-coins/2602388

The seller appeared to be offering a 1985 20p coin but was unaware of its value. He has not posted a picture of the coin and now states that the coin is being sold this afternoon. This strikes me as very suspicious. What does anyone else think?

If this is genuine then it would be huge news amongst coin collectors.

Very suspicious indeed. Gotta love all those chancers making stupid offers for it. Someone told him yesterday it was valuable and he replied saying he'd check it out, so it's his own fault if he goes and sells it for peanuts to someone in private. However I doubt very much he has an '85 at all, I don't trust anyone with blurry photos in this day and age, he could be just stirring it for attention.

Yeah, the photos made me suspicious alright. They only went up this morning and they are two blurry looking photos of two rusty looking coins. You can't even make out the dates. Also, if I had a coin that I didn't understand the value of and someone told me it was very valuable. I would be asking a lot of questions to make sure people weren't winding me up. I even PM'ed him to tell him that if he had what he claimed, it would be worth thousands and I got no reply. If he had that coin he would not be selling it a few hours after listing it. He would be meeting with dealers and auctioneers.

Is there a site that would tell you how rare X coin is? I doubt a 1982 2p coin or a 1970 50p coin would be worth anything, but I'd say it'd be nice to look at the different old coins.

The prices are a bit out of date but it gives you an idea.
