Great news for the 7s game to see emerging nations like Kenya produce a great result like beating the AIG All Blacks. Probably have zero effect on their 15 man game but a good news story all the same

Now, if only the IRFU would have the sense to establish a proper 7's team...

I remember being completely taken aback during RTE's olympics coverage when they looked forward to 2016 and suggested Ireland might get a medal from sevens.

That's a perfect storm of RTE ignorance and IRFU incompetence.

PS fair play to Kenya, they looked good there.

If we are involved in the Olympic 7s at all I'll be very surprised

I don't think qualification for 2016 has been decided upon yet between the IRB/IOC but I imagine it would involve results from the 7s circuit. We can't qualify if we aren't taking part in that. That was my point - the IRFU don't have us taking part and RTE seemed to be assuming that we would just parachute into the Olympics and walk away with a medal.

Well we do have a chance at a medal, thanks to the women. They're much further ahead.

Was gutted for Kenya when I was watching it this morning, would love to see them bounce back and win a cup final, third time lucky hopefully.

7s is much more open to upset results than 15s. Canada beat SA earlier in the tournament, for example. I doubt there's a single Kenya who has the physique to play prop in the 15s game!

englands form has't been good coming into the NZ leg,yet they won, it's a game of upsets, the blacks are the most consistent at 7s but can still be beaten...

Don't forget the Irish Women's Sevens team are in the qualification push for Moscow (and hopefully) China in the run-up to 2016. Media and most here seen to have forgotten.
