I got barred from that pub recently after offering to get a few shots in!!

    Boom boom!!

Scumbags. It doesn't matter if it's a rough spot. You should be able to go for a pint without the risk of gunmen entering and shooting someone dead.

Chicago only had only 17 murders for the month of February due to the weather being to cold for people to be out in for to long.

The Irish weather is to blame for these sort of murders folks.

Has there ever been a murder in Ireland where the reporter hasn't felt obliged to tell us that the scene had been preserved and the state pathologist has been notified or something to that effect? Isn't that a case of stating the bleeding obvious?

And I've never seen an interview after an incident where the local says anything other than "It's a quiet area. I'm shocked". Even when they obviously live in a bleedin undeclared war-zone.

    "It's a quiet area. I'm shocked".

It's either the pathologist or yer man Niall, the mechanic / funeral director.. and that fcuker already has a whole page of advertising in the paper.

    It's a pub, not a high school/primary school.
It's one dude dead, not multiple children and teachers.
The shooter was more than likely a hardened gang member, not a disaffected youth.

I use to pass by that pub on my way to work n always thought it must be a rough spot if there aren't any windows to break. Doesn't look the most inviting of pubs.

I'm sorry, I shouldn't infer you consider "hardened gang members" scumbags.

Would the price of a pint be cheaper in these scumbag pubs

Yes, and you get a refund if you get shot whilst drinking it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 66 ✭✭WoundedRhino

It's in a nasty area right enough. Cabra is quiet enough for the most part, but the area around that pub is a total no-go zone, I don't even like walking past it during the day.

    Infer what you like.
Let me now infer that he more than likely didn't shoot his mother before heading out to his "hit".

You need to start worrying when someone says the next round is yours.

10-30% (depending on who's stats you read) of the gun crime in Ireland per capita than compared to the US and I can't think of time some mad bastard shot up a school here.

Yep, in fairness, someones son/father/brother is dead, could have been completly undeserved/mistaken identity/fell foul of someone and no doubt people are in grief for their loss regardless. The whole "dodgy boozer" aspect is funny enough, but the story is not, so, RIP and sorry for the famalies loss.

Condolences to his family but this is the path he chose.

I'm messing, but it does amuse me that whenever something like this happens in Ireland, those who shout loudest about US gun control are noticeably silent.

Stringent gun control doesn't eliminate gun crime.

You'd be weary if you were a bouncer there all the same:

Doubt locals can claim the area is quiet after that, nor this indeed:

    Eliminate? No. Reduce significantly? Probably.
Can you imagine there was a gun in every house in Ireland ? I would hazard a guess that gun crime would increase.

Sometimes , just sometimes they say assistant state pathologist .Just to spice things up.

Johnnies don't totally eliminate std's and pregnancies.
    Still worth rubbering up though.

Building a nice strawman argument there!

Wouldn't you say gun deaths in Ireland are trending up, whilst those in the US are trending downwards.

    Why? Are the hours long?
    Got some stats?

Not fully at the moment, let me dig, but 46 gun deaths last year and this is the fifth this year. Gun use would appear to be on the increase in Ireland.

Violent crime in the US has been dropping for the last 25 years, that is widely documented.

There's a thread over in the Dublin City forum about this. If you're thinking about posting there please read their charter before doing so.

We all know where it's headed if we leave it here.
